I had been worried how Jaden seemed to be taking the duel too seriously, but I think this shows something about how he duels. Maybe this was what attracted me to Yu-Gi-Oh!, because I have a similar love of theater arts, and I noticed an uncanny similarity today. I’ll try to make my analogy brief. No matter what I do, there’s always something to worry about in theater; it’s become a property of it, even though no one else seems to have as rough a time with it as me. However, I still consider it fun, because I learn about myself and I get to perform on stage. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just insane to keep going. Now, it’s a pretty far-fetched analogy, because Jaden never wavers, but he does have that same sort of serious fun, determined to win for his friends but also enjoying himself despite pressure.

I notice that today’s GX was very much a return to traditional Yu-Gi-Oh! Jaden said at one point, “your move,” and at another the timeless phrase, “It all comes down to this,” which are both lines characteristic of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Moreover, we’re getting into shadow games, and Jaden has become a contender in shadow magic with that medallion thingy. The Gravekeeper Chief said that he hoped it would be helpful the next time Jaden was in a shadow game, and Jaden said later that he has a feeling the shadows will return. Now Jaden’s starting to understand what’s what, he believes in Shadow Games now and he has an item of magical power (the medallion).

Has anyone else noticed that Alexis’ voice sounds a bit different?

So, since Gravekeeper Chief, Assailant, and the others could be summoned, they’re all duel spirits? Interesting… Duel spirits who guard someone’s tomb from another dimension, punishing those who trespass into it by transporting them to play shadow games to the death. It makes no sense. For one, loser usually gets Shadow-realmmed, not buried alive. For another, where do duel spirits get the power to initiate shadow games? That’s usually more of a Millennium-items-only thing. It’s a bunch of properties we have no clue about. Could some other duel spirit, a less-friendly one, have been initiating the shadow games at the Abandoned Dorm?

It seems like Jaden actually knew all along that the people there were the monsters. He complimented them all on their performance.

The big question: What’s the deal with the medallion??? Who has the other half? Who else passed the test? Do we know him? How does he know Yazmin, especially because she’s a duel spirit? *Are* they a couple, or was that just what Jaden thought? What does the medallion do? How will it help in a shadow game? Was that the Millennium symbol? It had the same music associated with Millennium-item-type things.

Who *was* it that sent Banner that message? And what does he know? He seems to be a bit suspicious. I wonder if he knows anything about who has the other half? Alexis seemed a bit suspicious of him also, I wonder if she’s going to ask him what he knows about the Abandoned Dorm?

Man, those guards *really* did *not* want to mess with Yazmin! She must be pretty tough! And how did she know that Winged Kuriboh could lead them, or anything much about it at all?

Syrus was probably rubbing his eyes because Winged Kuriboh and Des Koala just appeared, alive, right next to them, lol.

That’s rockin’, Chumley’s koala coming through for him like that. We’ve heard before that Chumley has a special connection with his cards (Famly Business; he says they talk to him). I also think it’s amusing how he contradicts what he’s been saying since we got to know him with a cheer of, “I love running!”

Okay, we’ve got reruns again, folks. Tomorrow there’s no new GX. I’ll next be posting on the original Yu-Gi-Oh!’s In Search of a King. ‘Til then, that’s game! -Clio
