Yay! The triumphant (albeit bizarre) return of GX!

It’s been shown before that Crowler doesn’t like animals and they don’t like him. Remember his encounter with Pharaoh in Tag Team Trial II? And for the record, how many chicken puns were used in those few minutes scrambled my mind. (Get it? Scrambled?)

Jaden’s actually nervous about a duel! This is a first! Maybe it’s just peer pressure, though. He wasn’t nervous, but everyone else sure is!

So we see what Jaden’s four friends’ signature monsters are, the cards that they’re offering Jaden. It reminded me of that scene in Trial By Red-Eyes. Alexis’ is Etoile Cyber; Bastion’s, Water Dragon; Syrus’, Power Bond; and Chumley’s Des Koala. I believe that Etoile Cyber was also the card that Jaden, Syrus, and Chumley found that told them Alexis was in trouble back in The Shadow Duelist I. I’ll check, but that’s what I remember. I would like to observe how very interesting it is that Syrus’ Card is Power Bond. For one, I’ve been re-reading my earlier predictions, and I once predicted that Zane’s Card was Power Bond, from how he refused to let Syrus play it incorrectly back in Syrus’ flashback. So it seems to me that Syrus’ connection to Power Bond represents how much he looks up to Zane, because it is fact, even if its being Zane’s Card isn’t, that Zane gave Syrus the Power Bond card.

With the benefit of having a tenth-grade education and having paid attention in history class, I actually know what Belowski was saying: “Red, Blue, Yellow, who *cares*? Those are just symbols the Man uses to try and propagate social division. See, it’s all a conspiracy of the political-industrial complex to permeate the so-called Free Market—“ He’s saying that the Dorm colors are just authority’s way of encouraging social separation. I couldn’t agree more, but the question is why did authority decide to? He says that it’s a grand scheme thought up by the entire government and big business to affect the system of business in which (yeah, right) those who make desirable goods get the money to keep their business going and those who don’t end up closing, with little or no interference from government. What Academy social situations have to do with the system of Capitalism, I suppose we may never know. However, this tallies with Chazz’s brothers’ plan to dominate the world through becoming the best in three fields: government, business, and Duel Monsters, so maybe Belowski wasn’t just babbling…

“The Yin and the Yang” is about the philosophy behind the Yin-Yang symbol where (this is from memory, mind) opposites balance and are in harmony. The Yin-Yang represents balance because the white and black sides are equal and represent equilibrium in the universe.

I found it a bit surprising that Crowler liked Belowski at first, considering that it’s clear that Crowler certainly doesn’t think of cards as anything more than just cards and Belowski does. Then, to Crowler it’s just raving. Maybe Crowler took a disliking to Jaden at the get-go because Jaden echoed Belowski in insisting that cards were more than that, when Crowler had been disregarding Belowski’s weird statements for years.

“Mandatory Restraint Habitat”? Mandatory means you don’t get a choice; Restraint means you are contained and kept in captivity; Habitat is somewhere to live. Sounds like a jail to me.

Jaden would certainly be appalled at this “Mandatory Restraint Habitat” because to him being out dueling people is what he lives for; he couldn’t bear to be locked away from all opponents!

Totalitarian, another word I know. Belowski’s mentioning political, economic, and social systems again: Totalitarian governments typically have an elite ruling party with a single dictator. They function through controlling the media, arts, and press, only letting what they want the people to see or hear be released or made. They teach all of the little kids in the society blind devotion to the State (meaning country as a whole), and indoctrinate their ideals and goals into the public.

Karma is a Hindu belief that (and if anyone understands this better, pardon my briefness) you rack up points (called Karma) through good deeds, etc, and how much Karma you have when you die, i.e. how good you were, determines who you are in your next life. If you were good you get an easy, pleasant life, but if you were bad you get a life of shoveling garbage or something.

The subject of Duel Spirits is once again touched on here. Belowski not only can see, hear, and understand Kuriboh like Jaden can, but his own Mokey Mokeys are said to come alive in battle and affect everyone the way they affected Bastion, Alexis, Sy, and Chumley. Based on what I’ve hypothesized before about dueling spirits, that would take some seriously wicked natural ability to connect with a monster you’ve never met before like that. Though it also stands to reason that having grown up at Duel Academy Belowski would have learned to duel at a young age and gained a love for it early. Watching great duelists come and go, living with the ‘vibes’ of the duels’ excitement and really becoming attuned to it, Belowski could have simply gained such a connection to all duel monsters. I think that Belowski has a more extreme form of what we’ve seen or heard of in Jaden and Chumley (Jaden tells in The Shadow Duelist I about hearing his deck making noise as a little kid, and Chumley says that his monsters talk to him in Family Business). Not only, though, does Belowski empathize with monsters, but Mokey Mokey, reportedly, comes alive. This means the actual spirit shows up. If my assumptions are correct, that takes some major power on Belowski’s part.

Tomorrow’s episode is The New Chazz. This probably means Chazz is returning! Why’s he coming back?! Could he be the North Academy opponent? Did his brothers make him go back and beg to be let back in because they need him for their master scheme? Did he have some change of heart? Is he after revenge?

That’s all for now, more tomorrow! -Clio
