(Opening)
ACT 1 <<3:10>>
(His face is on every Sphere as Yusei races through the stadium, accompanied by Black-Winged Dragon. Jacob, who was just coming back into the stadium, is behind him with Meklord Emperor Granel.)
Announcer: With the arrival of Team Five-Ds' Yusei Fudo, the World Racing Grand Prix has forayed into its grand finale!
Jacob: I know not why your teammate Crow left you with a *synchro monster*; but I *do* know, that my Meklord Emperor Granel, *can absorb* synchro monsters. So I'll simply consider this beast to be a parting gift from him!
Lester: This couldn't have worked out *better* for us. Crow is gone and his synchro monster will soon be ours!
Primo: Let's not celebrate *yet*, Lester. We still have *Yusei* to deal with; and its a safe bet he'll be putting up *quite a fight*.
Lester: You give him far too much credit.
(Primo is staring at Yusei's face in the monitor, his own reflected against it.)
Primo: I give credit where credit is due. But still, make no mistake, he *will be dealt with*-- harshly.
(Primo's eyepiece lights up red.)
(Bruno, Akiza, and the twins stand at the pit booth counter.)
Akiza: So what's your take on why Crow just summoned Black-Wing' Dragon, Bruno?
Bruno: I wish I knew. Because if that Meklord Emperor is able to absorb *him* in like he's already taken in Red Nova Dragon... we'll be through.
(In the infirmary, Crow is in much the same shape as Jack. Both have bandages around their heads, and their riding suits are unfastened to reveal bandages wrapping their bare chests; their boots are neatly placed against the wall. Mina, Carly, and the waitress anxiously stand at Jack's bedside, while Trudge has moved to Crow's. Crow murmurs wearily in his sleep.)
Crow: Keep fighting, Yusei... with all your heart...!
(Out on the track, Black-Winged Dragon's white-bladed wings are spread against the sky.)
Yusei (think): There's not a question in my mind; I know *exactly* why Crow left me that Black-WInged Dragon synchro monster.
(Vision. Yuseiplaces his hand in, Jack's tops it, and Crow's grips both of theirs.)
Yusei (think, VO): It's because up until this point, all the success we've had in the World Racing Grand Prix, we've had as a team.
(He thinks of Team Unicorn, then Team Taiyo, then the faces of Jack and Crow.)
Yusei (think, VO): Crow left me that card because he thought it could help me win. And now...
(End Vision.)
Yusei (think): I'm gonna do my best to *prove him right!*
(The Team 5D's logo on Yusei's chest is bright against the dark blue of his jacket.)
Yusei: For Team Five-D's!
(He races ahead, and Jacob is right on his heels. He draws.)
Yusei: Let's rev it up!
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 4000, 4; Jacob, 12000, 4.)
Yusei: First I summon forth Wave Wall in defense mode!
[Wave Wall 0/2000/L4/earth]
Yusei: Then I'll end things with two facedowns! Crow-- I promise not to let you down!
ACT 2 <<6:16>>
(The bejeweled teardop-arch bridge sparkles beyond the track.)
Jacob (think): Like a moth to the flame, Team Five-D's must've known-- that summoning a synchro would lead to their destruction-- yet still, they *couldn't resist*. No matter; it will be my pleasure to make them pay for their foolishness! (aloud) It's *my turn* now!
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 4000, 5; Jacob, 12000, 5.)
Jacob: And I shall use it, not to *absorb* Black-Winged Dragon, but to destroy it! Meklord Emperor Granel, attack!
Bruno: No! If Jacob connects with this strike, Meklord Emperor Granel's ability will activate and take out *all of Yusei's lifepoints*!
Leo: Aaah?!
Akiza: Yusei...!
Yusei: I'm activating Wave Wall's special ability! Now for every synchro monster on my field, I can negate *your* monster's attack one time!
Jacob: Clever boy.
Akiza: All right! So long as Yusei still has that Black-Winged Dragon out on the field, Granel won't be able to get ahold of him!
Bruno: Yeah, 'cause it won't matter that Meklord Emperor's made of five monsters-- Granel can *only attack once*!
Leo: Right, and if he can't *connect* with that attack, all of its attack points--
Luna: Are *completely and utterly useless*!
Lester: *My*, he's doing well.
Primo: Yes; for *now*. But we both know it won't last. Not once our *true* power is unleashed.
Jacob: I activate the trap "Attack Cannon"! When Meklord Emperor fails to *destroy* your monster in battle, I can send the Granel Attack on my field to the graveyard in order to destroy one of *your* monsters. And I'll bet you can guess which monster it'll be. Black-Winged Dragon, begone!
(The cannon shoots straight off Granel's shoulder and hits Black-Winged Dragon.)
Yusei: Oh...! Black-Winged Dragon!
(Yusei looks aside, hurt by the loss, then straight ahead-- this means war!)
Yusei: That's it. Time to go *full throttle*!! I'm playing a trap card; go, "Shadow Impulse"!
Computer: If a synchro monster on your field is destroyed, the trap "Shadow Impulse" lets you summon a synchro that has the same level and type.
Akiza: Wait, that's the trap that *Crow* left out!
Yusei: Now Jacob, since your trap card destroyed my monster, I can now replenish my field with a new one. But both its attack points-- *and* its special ability-- must be cancelled out! Now then-- rise, Stardust Dragon!!
[Stardust Dragon //L8/]
(Stardust's attack points read 0 due to the card effect.)
(In the stadium, one Sphere shows Stardust's face, another its whole self-- Yusei's monster has taken the field.)
Leo: Way to go, Yusei!!
Akiza: Yeah! All right!
Bruno: Stardust Dragon is one of Yusei's *very best cards*, and you *know* he's gonna get the best of *Jacob* with it!
(Crow is still muttering in his sleep.)
Crow: Yusei... Keep fighting, pal...! We believe in you...!
Jacob: So you were able to avoid my Emperor's attack; but don't think it will happen again! It doesn't matter *how* many cards and monsters you play; they're all heading towards the same end! Sure, maybe one *puts up a fight*-- but guess what!
Yusei: *Tell me*, Jacob.
Jacob: Fighting simply postpones the inevitable. There's no escaping what Fate has in store.
(Jacob maintains distance between their runners, following Yusei as inexorably as the destiny he invokes.)
Jacob: A fate that you'll soon be meeting *yourself*, Yusei; you and all your friends. And there's *nothing you can do to stop it.* Meklord Emperor's left arm now revives itself, but with even *greater* power! Behold-- Granel Attack Three!
[Granel Attack 3 1800//L3/]
(Granel Attack 3 looks like a mechanical fish, complete with fins, tail, and teeth. It attaches to Granel's shoulder, with the multiple layers of teeth, like an eel's, pointed right in Yusei's direction.)
Yusei: No, now his Meklord Emperor is whole once more!
Jacob: *Indeed*, Yusei; and now that I have at least four speed counters, I can activate "Silent Burn"! *Which means*, that for every monster that *didn't* attack this turn, you take three hundred points of damage!
Yusei: Say what...?!
Jacob: So, for the *four parts of my Meklord Emperor* that I kept at bay, you now take *twelve* hundred points of damage!
(Granel zaps down onto the track, chasing Yusei and his runner as they go into a weaving dodge. When it hits, it does so in an impressive explosion that kicks up fire and dust. Yusei and his runner come flying out of it backwards, land, and start spinning on the track. Yusei clenches his teeth and hangs on, accelerating out of the uncontrolled spinning and back into going forward, weaving a bit. His lifepoints are down to 2800, shoulders tensed; that was *not* fun.)
Jacob: I'm rather *enjoying* your refusal to accept defeat; but you still can't match the might of my Meklord Emperor Granel. Now I place one card facedown, and end my turn.
Yusei: Keep playing your mind games; but I know there's just one person who controls my fate, Jacob-- and that one *person* is *me*!
Jacob: You fool... you have no concept of the powers that you're up against, do you? Well, allow me to *show* you.
(The infinity carving on Jacob's mouthpiece begins to glow yellowish. In the swirling, green-grey sky above, a wavery, glowing infinity symbol appears out of this apparent vortex.)
Yusei: What in the *world*...?
(Yusei's arm sign has started burning red.)
Yusei: My mark...!
(Bruno is goggling over Akiza's shoulder at her glowing Sign.)
Akiza: It's glowing...
(Luna's arm has also lit up.)
Leo: Luna!
(The mark of the wing and the mark of the tail shine red, and Jack's and Crow's eyes spring open, both looking shocked.)
Lester: What is *this*?! What's happening here?!
Primo: Jacob is about to enlighten them.
(The infinity symbol on Primo's eyepiece lights up green...)
(...Not unlike the big glowing green infinity that is now above and ahead of Yusei and Jacob.)
Yusei: What's going on?!
(The infinity shines brighter, and Yusei looks away from Jacob and back to it. It shines brighter still...)
(The vision, if it is just that, is full of puffy pinkish-red clouds. The green infinity symbol from the sky above the duel soars through them toward a distant, darker-pink mass, then becomes a red-glowing bubble. The bubble melts away, and the seven members of Team 5D's-- the Signers, Leo, and Bruno-- are soaring through the strange void, floating in the air.)
Yusei: Where are we?
(They look down. Below, the harsh, red landscape is dotted, highlighted and shadowed with lots of smaller, unmoving forms. Luna and Bruno are watching the ground gravely; Leo frantically windmills, having found himself high in the air, and clings to Bruno's leg.)
Leo: Aaaahh! Oh no, we're falling...!!
Luna: No-- we're floating.
(Jack and Crow are wide awake and floating comfortably upright, despite the state of their riding suits and the bandages still around their heads and chests.)
Jack: What *is* this place?
Crow: Someplace *without* a lotta gravity.
Akiza: Yusei--!
Yusei: I saw this place in a dream I had before about my dad...!
(Then he sees closer one of the things on the ground below; it's a stone tablet of a dueling card, in rust-red rock. T5D134_id1. More are strewn around, on their faces or backs, half-sunk in the ground, tilted at odd angles. It's a wide wasteland of lifeless, stone cards, scorching int he red-hot inferno of the sky above.)
Yusei: What's that on the ground?
Crow: Do we *wanna* know...?
Jack: It's like a card graveyard...!
Leo (still clinging to Bruno's leg): Grave-*what*?
(Bruno stares at the desolate landscape below, then looks away from it, eyes shadowed by his cap.)
Bruno: What *is* this place?
(Then they spot something else among the petrified cards; the gem atop it is shattered halfway off, the metal of both the outer arch and the inner that supports the jewel are bent horribly, like misshapen tinfoil, but it's unmistakably the teardrop-arch monument that stands at the heart of present-day New Domino City-- or what's left of it.)
Akiza (gasp): Look there! That's the archway built over the Daedalus Bridge!
Luna and Leo: Whuuh!
Jack: Impossible...!
Crow: How'd it get *here*?
Yusei: Wait, are we... dreaming...?
Jacob: This is no dream.
(The three Emperors of Iliaster appear in giant form, half-translucent in the sky ahead.)
Jacob: *This*... is the future. The future of the place that you call New Domino City. And with each tick of the clock, we arrive closer to this future.
Jack: You've *lost it*!
Yusei: Wait, how is this *our* future?
(Lester is silent and sullen at the obviousness of this question. Primo is grim, equally silent; where to even begin?)
Yusei: Tell us, *now*!
(It's Jacob who finally answers.)
Jacob: By way of *chain reaction*, you fool.
(As they watch, the landscape transforms, becoming a more familiar vision; New Domino's sparkling seas, blue skies, and shiny skyscrapers. This is a vision of the more near future, but still definitely the future; several of those glittering buildings are now floating in midair. The teardrop arch bridge's jewel shines brighter than ever, catching the sun; New Domino's familiar turbo-duel lanes and highways crisscross around it.)
Jacob: A reaction that all starts with your precious synchro monsters. Watch closely, and I will show you how synchros took over the world-- and destroyed the human race!
(We look around New Domino's shimmering, sometimes floating buildings and still familiar landmarks, to arrive on a turbo-dueling track more congested with traffic than we have ever seen any duel track be. Each person is on a differently-designed duel runner, all ages, all different types of people, and each is saying the same thing, all overlapping--)
- I synchro-summon!
- I synchro-summon!
- I synchro-summon!
- I synchro-summon!
- I synchro-summon!
- I synchro-summon!
(A young man in a brown jacket raises Ally of Justice Catastor, a synchro.)
- I synchro-summon!
(The Signers are still floating, now in the clear blue skies of New Domino among a few puffy clouds.)
Yusei: Who are *they*?
(New Domino's mall has gotten even *more* futuristic, amazing as it sounds. A holographic, multi-story ad depicts a model in a cowgirl-type ensemble winking as she plays Naturia Gaodrake-- another synchro. Around her in the air are holograms of more cards, all with the white frame that mark them as synchro monsters. The crowds below raise their own synchros as they cheer the model.)
Jacob (VO): *They* are the spawns of a synchro. As dueling evolved, the *world* evolved along with it.
(We next find ourselves in a classroom in Domino of the near future. Every student, and they look small enough to be perhaps first or second grade, is in a neat red or blue Duel Academy blazer, and has a dueling deck on the table somewhere near them. At the front of the class, the teacher explains that level-two T5D134_id2 plus level-three Marauding Captain equals level-five Ally of Justice Catastor.)
Jacob (VO): And with the great popularity of synchro monsters, came great prosperity.
(Elsewhere, the official-looking holographic displays and dull suits worn by most of the people present suggest a business convention, but we still see two suited men busting out their cards on arm-supported duel disk versions of the same sort of light-platform duel equipment we've seen the Emperors using.)
Jacob (VO): Why, the people of New Domino enjoyed synchro-summoning *so much*...
(Various multicolored glowing pieces and holographic charts scroll past. Then, we see it...)
Jacob (VO): ...That the activity generated *enormous* amounts of Ener-D. This Ener-D powered the Ener-D Reactor.
(The new NRD reactor consists of solid foundations connecting it to the floor and ceiling but tapering in the middle, giving it the overall shape of an hourglass. Its most prominent feature, though, is a circular ring around its center that rushes with the constantly-spinning light of an NRD Reactor's centrifuge. Proud scientists stand around the golden-glowing contraption, and outside, every light in the busy night life of New Domino City shines bright, lighting up the world with the spidery patterns of city lights even from space.)
Jacob (VO): The more Ener-D this reactor absorbed, the more powerful it became. And in turn, the more quickly the world evolved!
(Lester recalls us back to where we're sitting in the sky with a burst of somewhat hysterical laughter.)
Lester: Hahahahahahaha! That's right! But there was a steep price to pay! And *guess who paid it*!! Daa-hahahahahaha!!
(Yusei and Akiza look rather troubled at Lester's behavior.)
Primo (fiercely): *We did*! Huh...?!
(Primo is the first to look ahead; the sky of New Domino isn't sunny anymore, but the pale white of foggy layers of clouds; and things smaller than buildings are floating in the sky. Lester grips his own head in both hands, elbows together, and starts trembling and crying out, reliving a horrible memory. Against the clouds above the city, are appearing small, familiar figures in orange, grey, and blue. As they descend toward the tops of the city's skyscrapers, we can see them-- Hundreds of Wisels, Granels, and Skiels, slowly descending upon the city like a cloud of locusts, red eyes and void-filled chests aglow.)
Yusei: Those're *Meklords*!!
ACT 3 <<12:33>>
(The sky above New Domino City is filled with a quiet swarm of Meklords. Then one of the Granels lets loose a blast--right at the cluster of buildings that stands at the city's heart. The blast explodes outward in a white-out of destruction. More Meklords open fire, creating numerous bubbling explosions like unnatural sunrises on New Domino's horizon. Soon black smoke and ashes rise through the dark, contaminated clouds, as Team 5D's watches in horror from their vantage point in the sky.)
Yusei: What's happening?!
Crow: They're destroying the city!
Leo: Look-- down there!
(In the street below, surrounded by wreckage, rubble, and fires from the half-destroyed buildings around and a crushed car, runs a family of three, fleeing for their lives. The dad carries a large leather bag-- all they could save except the clothes on their backs; the mom runs after, her hand gripping that of a young boy about the twins' age, neat blue Duel Academy blazer in disarray, long red hair tangled behind him.)
Leo: Is that-- *Lester*?!
(The big Lester in the sky watches the scene with grim dispassion.)
Lester: Yes, it is. It's me as a boy. But my childhood ended on that day.
(The streets below are something straight out of an apocalypse movie; everything is at least halfway destroyed, refugees flee, and the swarm of Meklords is blasting everything in its path.)
Primo: And that... was just the beginning.
(This scene happens even further into the future, perhaps; by now, the destruction evident in the structures is no longer fresh; possibly some lichen can be seen hanging from a building across the way, or maybe those are cables. A Granel is floating through the streets, and, to either side of a ruined window, two battle-hardened guerrilla fighters-- dressed and armored in grey to blend in with scorched concrete-- wait to ambush it. One looks across at the other; the young man regards his comrade with a fierce, determined frown, under crazy grey hair. He is unmistakably the human being who became Primo. His cohort, a competent female warrior, smiles back with fierce hazel eyes and nods. The Granel has passed by their window, and finds itself peppered in the back with blaster fire. It barely notices. Primo keeps firing, though. His friend fires a rocket from her weapon; the Granel notices that shot when it connects with its head. The two fighters share another smile; they got 'im! Then a blast from the same Granel, or maybe another, rips up the side of the building. The explosion knocks Primo back, to land painfully, roll a few times, and come to rest in a pile of concrete and scrap iron. When he looks up, painfully-- he gasps in horror and runs back to where the blast hit. A huge chunk is ripped out, straight through the center of the building, and all that remains of the woman he was fighting alongside, is the end of her rocket launcher barrel, the edge still white-hot where it was separated from the rest.)
Vision Primo: My lieutenant's blaster...!
(And the Granel is coming back, rising into view. He faces it, with the recklessness and defiance born of grief.)
Vision Primo: What've you done with her!!
(The Granel emits a tone as though in response. Primo steps into a fighting stance and levels his blaster, peppering the monster with fire, yelling with fury.)
Vision Primo: Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!
(Above in the sky, Team 5D's has seen the whole thing.)
Jacob (VO): Humanity's greediness had finally reached its *peak*, and that's when the Ener-D Reactor started to rotate backwards-- and Zero Reverse occurred *again*.
(Back to the next-generation Ener-D Reactor. It suddenly goes dark, then burns brighter than ever. Streams of multicolored energy are rising out of the ground among the buildings, growing brighter and brighter.)
Jacob (VO): As if it was responding to the backwards *nature* that was residing in people's hearts. It went faster, and faster, and soon-- it exploded!
(Huge yellow blast of energy, and when it subsides, the ground beneath it, once lit up, was dark; another yellow blast hits in an adjacent area, then another, and another, all over the planet.)
Jacob (VO): This triggered other Ener-D Reactors to surge, and the world as we knew it began to change for the worse...
Yusei: You lie! I refuse to believe that Zero Reverse happened *again*, Jacob!!
Jacob: You can refuse all you like-- but it's the truth. I know because *I was there*, Yusei.
(Among the shadows and ruins of a once-pround city, walks an old man. His gnarled hands grip a walking stick; one eye is grown over with grey hair, and though his beard is long and grey, his head is bald; his brown robes, little more than sacks, are patched; but he carries himself proudly despite his short, frail form. This is the human being that become Jacob. He looks up at a somewhat familiar building with a domed disk on top, and beyond it, the ruins of what might have been the PSB Headquarters building. It is beginning to rain.)
Jacob (VO): This was *my era*, and I saw it all happen firsthand. For whatever reason, destiny chose *me* to survive this calamity.
(He travels next to a sweltering desert, in which a large ship appears to have crashed sideways and partially sunk.)
Jacob (VO): And after I did, there was not much to do, but walk.
(His journey takes him next to an icy ravine, in the middle of a blizzard. Even at this remote end of the earth, he is alone.)
Jacob (VO): So I wandered the earth looking for *anyone*, *anything*...
(Jacob wanders to another ruined city, covered in snow.)
Vision Jacob: Hello...? Is anybody *out there*...?!
(His voice echoes across the empty landscape of petrified cards and the ruined teardrop-arch bridge, framing the dust-obscured, harsh red setting sun.)
Vision Jacob: *Anyone*...? *Answer me*...!!!
Jacob (VO): There was no answer. Just the echo of my own voice. The *echo*... of what once was.
(A tear falls from Jacob's one remaining eye as he watches the sun set, the only human being left alive on earth.)
(At the end of their harsh tale, the three Emperors are studies in shades of bitter anger; Lester scowls with resentment, Primo looks solemnly off into the distance, and Jacob regards the ruined world with harsh regret.)
Yusei: So you're saying... *this is our future*...?
(The sun is nearly set on the horizon, beyond the crumpled Daedalus Bridge monument... End Vision.)
(In the Team 5D's pit booth, expressions range from worry to fear to surprise.)
Akiza: What just happened...?
(Jack and Crow are lying in bed with identical expressions of bewildered horror.)
Crow: That wasn't a dream, was it...?!
Jack: If it was, I had it too!
(In the Team New World pit booth, Lester and Primo are silent; Lester resentful, Primo contemptuous.)
(Yusei and Jacob race onward.)
Yusei: You paint a dreadful picture; and you've pinned *all the blame* on something I put my deepest faith in... *synchro-summoning*.
Jacob: If this is so, then your *faith* is *misplaced*. I tell you, Yusei Fudo-- the power of the synchro-summon, is festering with all the things that make mankind wicked!
Yusei: Like any great power, if misused it *could* cause great harm; but if championed by the righteous it can create *good*.
Jacob: Yes, that's just what everyone was saying before the world crumbled!
Yusei: *You're wrong*-- our fate's *not* set! And somehow I'll prove it!
ACT 4 <<15:52>>
Yusei: Jacob-- my draw.
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 2800, 6; Jacob, 12000, 6.)
Yusei: I summon the tuner monster Mono Synchron!
[Mono Synchron 0//L1/]
Yusei: And now its ability will activate! When Mono Synchron is used to synchro-summon, another synchro-material card's level-- becomes one. Which means Wave Wall's level is reduced.
(Mono Synchron emblazons LV 1 on the side of Wave Wall, and its level decreases from 4 to 1.)
Yusei: Now, level-one Mono Synchron, tune with level-one Wave Wall! Behold-- as both power and speed surge towards each other and collide, to create--
(Mono Synchron transforms itself into one ring, and it centers around Wave Wall's one star. L1 + L1 = L2.)
Yusei: The synchro tuner, Formula Synchron!
[Formula Synchron ///]
Yusei: But guess what-- there's more! *Lots* more, Jacob! But better that I just *show* you. Here-- goes!!
(The air around Yusei is filling with streaks of light, and the Seal of the Crimson Dragon appears around him.)
Yusei: I tune level-two Formula Synchron with level-eight Stardust Dragon!
(The air beyond Yusei and the bright sparks thrown off by the nose of his runner is turning tuning green, with bright green lights flying past. The road under Yusei's wheels is shining bright white, and Stardust Dragon's wings look like a soaring fireworks display.)
Yusei: Let the spirit of *all* duel monsters now spread its wings, and soar to new heights where it can be transformed! I accel synchro--
(Yusei's eyes flash briefly with white sparks, as though stars have appeared in his dark blue eyes. The surface of the card he raises dusts away to reveal itself--)
Yusei: Shooting Star Dragon!
(Yusei, his runner, and his monsters abruptly disappear from the road. A greenish light appears behind Jacob, and he starts to look over his shoulder as Yusei and his field come blasting out of it. Shooting Star Dragon blazes ahead, soaring and reveling in the sky.)
[Shooting Star Dragon 3300//L10/]
Yusei: Now I play Shooting Star's ability; which means once per turn, I can look at the top five cards of my deck, and for every tuner monster I find, I can attack you one time.
(Yusei prepares to draw, and pauses, gripping the cards he's about to pull.)
Yusei: Here goes...
(A tiny image of the Seal of the Crimson Dragon, glowing red, appears in his eye. He draws the first card and raises it.)
Yusei: The first card is a tuner monster-- Drill Synchron!
[Drill Synchron 800/300/L3/earth]
Yusei: The second card is one as well-- Debris Dragon!
[Debris Dragon 1000/2000/L4/wind]
Yusei: The third card? Another one, Nitro Synchron!
[Nitro Synchron 300/100/L2/fire]
Yusei: And fourth-- yet another tuner! Quickdraw Synchron!
[Quickdraw Synchron 700/1400/L5/wind]
Yusei: And now *fifth*, the tuner monster Effect Veiler!
[Effect Veiler 0/0/L1/light]
(The five tuners arrange themselves in a circle, imposed upon the Seal of the Crimson Dragon, with Drill Synchron at its head, Nitro Synchron over its front claw, Effect Veiler atop its wings, Quickdraw at its back claw, and Debris Dragon at its tail.)
Yusei: Five tuners-- that means five attacks! So go-- Shooting Star, attack!
(Shooting Star Dragon splits into five of itself-- one red, one orange, one yellow, one green, one blue.)
Yusei: Here comes the first one! Target Granel Attack Three!
(The red Shooting Star Dragon is on a collision course.)
Jacob: Red Nova Dragon, take out that Shooting Star!
(Granel's chest shines and Red Nova bursts from it, tethered by glowing strands.)
Yusei: I don't think so! I activate the trap "Synchro Striker Unit"! Now Striker becomes an equip card for my synchro monster, and increases its attack points by one thousand.
(This gives the attacking red Shooting Star Dragon, and each of its friends for that matter, 4300 attack points. The air is beginning to crackle around the red Shooting Star, and it is still on a crash trajectory.)
Jacob: But due to Granel Carrier's special ability, Red Nova Dragon's destruction is negated!
(The red Shooting Star collides with a barrier around Red Nova Dragon.)
Yusei: Maybe, but *you* still take damage.
(Granel's attack points decrease to 14700, and Jacob's lifepoints now read 11200.)
Leo: Check it out, Granel's points are lower now!
Bruno: Jacob's points are, too! And they're gonna *keep* getting lower.
(Yusei's other four shades of Shooting Star Dragon are still waiting in the sky. Orange is up next.)
Yusei: Here comes the second attack!
(Orange collides with Red Nova Dragon, in a huge burst of smoke. Granel's attack points decrease to 10400 and Jacob's points to 10400 alike. Green Shooting Star is coming in next.)
Yusei: And now, the third! Target Granel Attack Three!
(Granel holds up Granel Attack Three as a shield. This attack leaves it with no right arm, 7900 attack points, and Jacob with 7900 lifepoints.)
Yusei: Here comes number four! Target Granel Top!
(Yellow takes out Granel's head, and leaves it and Jaocb with 4100 points each.)
Bruno: He did it!
Akiza: All right!
Luna: Granel's finally been cut down to size, Leo!
Leo: Ya got that right, Luna! And now it's-- go time!
Yusei: Prepare yourself-- it's time for my fifth and final attack!
(Here comes the blue Shooting Star Dragon, like a speeding bullet out of nowhere.)
Yusei: Target Meklord Emperor Granel!
(The dragon strikes right through Granel's chest, a fatal blow. Granel is falling out of the sky, the void in its chest dark.)
Yusei: And since Meklord Granel's been beat, all your other monsters, Jacob-- are now destroyed!
(What's left of Granel explodes in midair, assailing Jacob with smoke. He's down to 4900 lifepoints now.)
Yusei: We've reached the turn's end phase and that means Shooting Star, must now reduce his assault power by eight hundred points. Then lastly, I'll throw two facedowns.
(Shooting Star Dragon's attack points reduce themselves to 3500.)
Yusei: That's my turn.
(Yusei accelerates forward to pull even with Jacob.)
Yusei: The power of synchro-summoning can't be *all* bad, Jacob. After all, I was able to use it to knock *you* down a notch! So now maybe you see, the destiny you speak of isn't for certain!
Jacob: It's clear you don't understand how destiny works; not only is it *still certain*, your actions just now have helped usher it along!
(Yusei jumps at that, seeing the despair-filled field of half-planted stone tablets beneath a fiery red sky, the vision of a doomed future.)
Jacob: And because they have, I'm now forced to take *drastic measures*!
Lester and Primo: Aporia!
Jacob: Indeed.
Yusei: Aporia?
Jacob: You need not ask who Aporia is, for words cannot answer-- but I *will show* you!
(The infinity on Jacob's mask glows yellow, and the same green infinity symbol he called out of the sky earlier burns again.)
(In the pit booth, Primo's infinity eyepiece is glowing green, Lester's blue.)
(Jacob lifts off from his runner, and rises into the sky, blazing, flying toward the infinity symbol there. Two more burst of light, one green one blue, follow. Primo and Lester are flying toward the infinity symbol also.)
Primo: At long last...! This battle can now be fought with *all of our* powers!
Lester: And in one spiffy package!
(Green lines of code are flying through the air. Jacob, Primo, and Lester are stacking together; their three different face masks put together make two eyes and a mouth, which combines into one full-facial mask of infinities. Jacob's body is transforming, growing taller, slimmer, stronger, with a gold ring forming a mantle around its head. The mask of infinities transforms into a humanlike face. Yusei watches the reddish glowing figure in the air over his shoulder.)
Yusei: Whoa, who are you?
(The strange figure is still glowing with reddish energy, and opens eyes that are just as red. It regards him as though he were a bug.)
Aporia: I am-- Aporia.
(To Be Continued...)
