ACT 1 <2:33>
(At the WRGP Semifinals...)
Announcer: *Absolutely amazing*!! He's finally appeared, the *third Nordic God*, Odin!
(Each of the three Nordic Gods hovering over Haldor's field-- crafty Loki; bigger, burly Thor; and gigantic, towering Odin-- has two glowing rings crossed around it, restricting its attacks.)
Announcer: Now, Team Ragnarok has their three mightiest cards all on the field at he *same time*, and ready to wreak some *serious* havoc! How can Yusei Fudo possibly prevail against these *powerful foes*?!
(Yusei is watching the gods over his shoulder, poker-faced.)
Jack: I don't know, seeing as how we haven't even been able to take down *one* yet. This is *awful*.
(They're watching the Sphere before them.)
Bruno (VO): *I'll* say. Thor negates a monster's special ability and absorbs it...
(The Nordic God with the giant hammer is standing strong within his imprisoning rings with 3500 attack points.)
Bruno (VO): *Loki* negates the activation of a trap during the battle phase of a turn...
(Loki, smaller floats at Thor's shoulder, also within a set of rings.)
Bruno (VO): And *Odin*?! Well-- I'm not quite sure *what* Odin can do yet!
(Odin towers over Thor and Loki alike, with 4000 attack points and a third, gigantic, pair of rings.)
Bruno: But I'm betting that it's something *big*, especially seeing as how he's got the *most attack points* out of those three behemoths!
Crow: But don't forget, Bruno; the effect of Yusei's trap card "Monster Chain" is still in effect.
(All three Nordic Gods' rings lock them out of attacking.)
Crow (VO): And as long as it is, neither Yusei *or* Haldor can attack for three more turns.
Crow: Which gives Yusei some time to come up with a plan to win this.
Halldor: Ahh, Yusei Fudo, I will admit you were wise to play a trap card that would stall our match! However, now that Odin, Father of the Aesir, is out, you would be wise to *re*-strategize! You see, Odin isn't *just* a god; he's the *ruler* of the Nordic Gods! He's more powerful than *Thor and Loki*; and certainly more powerful than your little trap!
Yusei: My trap...?!
Halldor: That's right, Yusei; but don't take my word for it, *observe* as I invoke Odin's ability!
(As Halldor speaks, Odin raises his gnarled staff.)
Halldor: The ability to take any spell or trap card that's on the field and being used against a *god*, and *completely negate it*!!
(Lightning is gathering at the tip of Odin's staff.)
Yusei: My Monster Chain!
(Thor's rings break; then Loki's as well. Odin's have already evaporated. The three Nordic Gods are ready for battle again.)
Dragen: Seems that Halldor is going to end this *here*.
(Yusei's Cosmic Compass and tokens are looking tiny and vulnerable, with 0 defense points apiece.)
Halldor: And now, Yusei-- behold! The awesome power of the Nordic Gods! First up is Loki!
(Loki points a finger and blasts a jet of black magic, vaporizing one of Yusei's Compass Tokens.)
Halldor: And next, *Thor* will unleash his fury on you!
(The head of Thor's hammer could probably smash a couple hundred tiny compass tokens at once, but takes out just the one.)
Halldor: And now, Odin, Father of the Aesir-- let loose your *might*!!
(Cosmic Compass is the next to go; Yusei flinches.)
Halldor: All the monsters on your field have been destroyed, Yusei; the only thing left to target now is *you*-- and target you, I shall.
Yusei: Well, then-- I'd better make a move!
ACT 2 <<4:56>>
(Yusei and Halldor race onward, the three Nordic Gods looming over them, now without any encircling rings.)
Bruno: I can't believe it! All the monsters on Yusei's field are gone!
Akiza: Meaning now, *he's* the only one to take out! This is bad.
Crow: Man! I can't believe Yusei's trap backfired the way it did!
(There's still three more turns left before Monster Chain expires; but the Nordic Gods are no longer under its effect.)
Crow (VO): It'd be one thing if both Halldor *and Yusei* couldn't attack for three turns, but with Odin's ability, Halldor can attack whenever he pleases!
Bruno: Yusei's gotta level the field... if that's even possible at this point.
Jack: Yusei is going to *make it* possible!
Leo: Yeah! He'll find a way, for sure!
Luna: Mmm-hmm. If there's anyone who can pull it off, it's Yusei!
Akiza: Well, guys... we'll soon see.
Broder: This contest is *all but over*.
Dragen: Agreed, Broder.
(The three Nordic Gods loom at Yusei's back.)
Dragen (VO): No duelist stands a chance against a Nordic God, let alone *three*.
(In the great blue room...)
Lester: The battle between Team Ragnarok and Team Five-D's is better than we could've ever hoped! Just look at the Circuit surge! At this rate, once we reach the final match, the connection will be teetering on the edge of full completion! And so will our master plan!
(Jacob and Primo are both wearing intense frowns.)
Halldor: I now place one card facedown, and end my turn!
(The crossed rings encircle Thor, Loki, and Odin once again. The time on Monster Chain counts down from three turns to two.)
Halldor: Yusei, I've waited a long time to arrive here...
(Flashback. The blizzard is so heavy, that Halldor's tree-crowned mansion can barely be seen; the landscape is bright white, the tree coated with frost.)
Halldor (VO): ... At the verge of victory... A very long time.
(Deep within the mansion, the great taproot at the tree's heart is untouched by the weather, and the orange pool around its base gives the stone room a warm glow. The roots' hollow is glowing golden, and Sebastian stands beside it.)
FB Sebastian: Master Halldor. Thank you for coming.
(In this scene, Halldor is a child, perhaps ten years old, dressed in neat, fancy clothes. His hair is short.)
FB Sebastian: I have something... for you.
(He indicates the card glowing in the tree hollow.)
FB Sebastian: This is your birthright. *This*-- is Odin.
(Outside, the blizzard rages onward as Sebastian speaks; it seems as though the fierce, bleak, neverending winter he speaks of has already come.)
FB Sebastian: According to legend, the Fimbulwinter is coming. That is to say, the final battle for this world is fast approaching. And when it arrives, it is your duty to battle, as a duelist, and protect us, young master.
FB Young Halldor: Huh...?
FB Sebastian: It is a heavy burden, to be sure; but a burden that your family has beared (sic) for countless millennia. *You will* train; and your training will be complete, when Odin *opens his eye*.
(Halldor resolutely examines the card in the tree; the eye not covered by a patch is closed, as though Odin is asleep.)
FB Sebastian: Only then will you know you are ready to wield him in battle.
(A lone traveler in a white cloak walks the desert, leaning heavily against his walking stick with exhaustion.)
Halldor (VO): So, as Sebastian had instructed, I began to train, traveling the world looking to hone my dueling skills.
(The great Pyramids of Egypt stand in the distance, majestic against the bright blue sky, but still many, many dunes of endless desert away.)
Halldor (VO): And to see the world as it truly was. The majesty...
Halldor (VO): ...As well as the desolation.
(Now the white-cloaked traveler finds himself walking through concrete ruins; a city that has been destroyed, perhaps in war.)
Halldor (VO): It wasn't always easy...
(Halldor, no longer a child, pauses and picks up a small rag doll in a pink dress from the pavement. He regards it pensively.)
Halldor (VO): ...But it *was* *always* insightful.
(As he holds the doll in his hand, the doll's head falls off. The ruins around him poignantly hint at the rest of the doll's sad story.)
Halldor (VO): I began to view the human condition in a new way; and in turn, I began to view *myself* in a new way.
(The warm glow of the taproot room is the same as when Halldor left it. Sebastian gasps at the sound of footsteps on the stairs. Halldor, now a young man, steps into the light from the pool, smiling with newfound elation at returning home, still in his white cloak.)
FB Halldor: Good to see you, Sebastian!
(Sebastian bows.)
FB Sebastian: And you as well, young master.
(Halldor reaches a hand toward the golden-glowing card-- and Odin's eye snaps open! The glow spreads, growing brighter.)
FB Sebastian (think): Odin's eye has opened...
(Halldor has now inherited Odin, Father of the Aesir.)
(Thor's card lights up as Dragen holds it, Broder nearly falls over when Loki does the same; on a beach somewhere in the tropics, the Nordic Gods have united at last.)
Halldor (VO): You know the rest of the story; I found the others who would wield the power of the Nordic Gods alongside me.
(Each duelist's rune eye lights up. End Flashback.)
Halldor: So you see, Yusei? It's been a long and arduous journey to arrive at where I am now. And that is precisely why you find yourself where *you* are now. Because you're the very last obstacle in my way to save the world!
(Halldor's rune eye starts glowing.)
Halldor; But you won't be in my way for long! The Nordic Gods are seeing to *that*! There's *no withstanding them*! Which is why I now offer you a chance to end this with at least *some of your dignity intact! I offer you the chance to *surrender*! Otherwise, you'll take the full force of these three chilling powerhouses!
Yusei: Is that so? You know, perhaps it's time I tell you a little tale of my *own*, Halldor. Ya see-- you're not the only one who's come all the way to the Grand Prix to fight for something!
Halldor: What do you mean, Yusei?
Yusei: You know what I mean.
(Flashback. Halldor smiles with condescending superiority.)
FB Halldor: The person whose research brought about Zero Reverse, was your *father*, was it not, Yusei? And since you're of his *bloodline*, you have it in you to cause the same damage his research did.
(End Flashback.)
Yusei: My heart didn't want to believe what you said could be true; but then I remembered a dream about my father. In it, he warned me...
(Flashback. Above, the sky has turned to fire around a rocky island in the sky, with walkways that spiral out from it. Below, the rooftops of the city look not unlike a field of gravestones.)
Yusei (VO): ...About a great danger.
FB Fudo: Yusei... the power of the force you see before you must *never* reach your world.
(End Flashback.)
(Suddenly Halldor looks up at the sky.)
Halldor: Huh?
(Yusei looks the same way, alarmed.)
Yusei: Huh!
(Directly above them, that very same craggy aerial island protrudes from the clouds now; more of it is visible now.)
Yusei: I think I know what that thing is now; it's my father's shadow!
Halldor: Your father's shadow?!
(Flashback. A light from the ominous, swirling clouds above casts a shining beam of light on the needle that towers over the City-- and the destruction explodes outward from that point in a blinding wall of light, ripping to shreds everything in its path instantly.)
Yusei (VO): Ya see, I was born on the same day that this city nearly perished.
(A crevasse between two rows of tall buildings widens, threatening to topple all of them. A towering wall of water crashes over the cityscape, and soon the patch of island that would become known as the Satellite, with a massive crater at its center, was separated from the mainland entirely, surrounded by vicious whirlpools.)
(Professor Fudo seals the emergency pod and sends it away, saving his son Yusei from the disaster about to reach where he stands...)
(The same emergency pod washes up on the beach, baby Yusei safely sealed inside its glass casing, crying and screaming. End Flashback.)
Yusei: Was it coincidence? Or was it something much more? Something that has to do with the Fudo family? Even though Zero Reverse was *not* my father's fault, he *was* a part of it. So maybe there *is* something about my bloodline that brings doom and despair-- and if that turns out to be the case-- then I'll do what I must to stop it, just as I'm going to stop Team New World! Ya see, I've realized something important-- nothing will ever change what happened here in New Domino City; the only thing I *can* control-- is what happens *next*! So that's *just* what I plan to do!
Halldor: I see...
Yusei: So to answer your question-- *no*, Halldor, there's no way I'll *ever* surrender!
(Yusei's arm sign illuminates, then expands and vanishes.)
(The other four Signers gasp in unison. All four of their marks vanish as well.)
Akiza: It's coming...!
(Four blazing streams of red light are zooming across the surface of the ocean; they bounce upward and pour into Yusei. Halldor watches him from behind as he starts to glow red.)
Halldor: What in the world...?!
(The seal of the Crimson Dragon is burning brightly upon Yusei's back.)
Halldor: That's the mark of the Crimson Dragon!
Yusei: Yes; because he's the only one strong enough to take on your Nordic Gods!
(The top card of Yusei's deck starts to glow gold. He goes to draw.)
Yusei: Now then-- it's *my turn*!
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 4000, 5; Halldor, 4000, 5. Yusei drew, of course, Majestic Dragon.)
Yusei: I play the "Speed Spell - Angel Baton"! Since I have at least two speed counters, I can draw two additional cards from my deck by sending *one* card in my hand to the graveyard!
(He discards Quillbolt Hedgehog.)
Yusei: Next, I summon forth Debris Dragon!
[Debris Dragon 1000//L4/]
Halldor: It's a *tuner monster*! He's planning a synchro!
Yusei: And when Debris Dragon is summoned, I get to summon a monster with five hundred or less attack points, straight from my graveyard! And the monster I choose is Cosmic Compass!
[Cosmic Compass 100//L1/]
Yusei: And now, since a tuner is on my field, I can summon from my graveyard, Quillbolt Hedgehog!
[Quillbolt Hedgehog 800//L2/]
Yusei: Next up, because a monster was summoned from my graveyard, I can summon *this* monster from my hand! Doppel Warrior!
[Doppel Warrior 800//L2/]
Yusei: But I'm not through yet! Doppel Warrior, tune with Quillbolt Hedgehog and Debris Dragon!
(Doppel Warrior and Quillbolt spring into the air, and Debris Dragon dissolves into stars.)
Yusei: Now, out of three will come one-- and out of one will come great cosmic might!
(Doppel Warrior and Quillbolt sail through the aligning green rings. L2 + L2 + L4 = L8.)
Yusei: I synchro-summon-- the synchro monster Stardust Dragon!!
[Stardust Dragon 2500//L8/]
Halldor: Your ultimate beast! But it doesn't matter; Stardust Dragon is still no match for my three Nordic Gods!
Yusei: I activate Doppel Warrior's ability! When it's used to synchro-summon, I'm allowed to bring out one Doppel Warrior token to my field!
(A shorter, smaller mini Doppel Warrior splits off from Stardust Dragon and appears on the field. It has 400//L1/)
Yusei: Then from my hand, I activate the "Speed Spell - Overtune"! Due to Overtune, since I have five speed counters, I'm now allowed to release one monster on my field, and in exchange I can summon one tuner monster from my hand that has the same level!
Halldor: Wait, just what's going on here?!
Yusei: I release level-one Doppel Token-- and summon Majestic Dragon!
[Majestic Dragon 0/0/L1/light]
Yusei: Now, Cosmic Compass and Majestic Dragon, tune with Stardust Dragon!
(Majestic Dragon expands, becoming a transparent ghost several times its adorable size. Stardust roars, and flies into the big pink mass; its stars are aligning within golden frames.)
Yusei: You were wrong when you called Stardust Dragon my 'ultimate beast', Halldor!
(L8 + L1 + L1 = L10.)
Yusei: *This* is my ultimate beast! I now synchro-summon-- the Majestic Star Dragon!!
[Majestic Star Dragon 3800/3000/L10/wind]
Computer: Majestic Star Dragon, is a level-ten dragon-type monster, with thirty-eight hundred attack points, and three thousand defense points.
Jack: Yes! Yusei!
Crow: He's actually *done* it!
(Majestic Star Dragon has taken the field, shining just as brightly as its name implies. Suddenly, Halldor's God Cards are looking a bit smaller.)
Crow (VO): He's harnessed the power of the Crimson Dragon!
ACT 3 <<13:34>>
(Majestic Star Dragon's hide fluoresces in green and white, too bright to be easily looked upon. Halldor's God Cards are looking a bit smaller than they were before.)
Broder: What on earth is *that*?!
Dragen: Dunno. That card's not in our system!
Halldor: There's something about that beast...!
(The light blue rune in his eye lights up. As he stares at Majestic Star Dragon, he can see within it the shimmering red form of the Crimson Dragon itself, sees it warn him away, belling to he sky.)
Halldor: This monster is the incarnation of the Crimson Dragon! No matter. He cannot attack!
(Monster Chain is still in effect for two more turns. Two encircling rings of light add on to Majestic Star Dragon's glowing aura.)
Luna and Leo: Huh...?
Luna: Halldor's right, the Monster Chain trap Yusei played hasn't expired yet!
Crow: Yeah, and, until it does, Yusei's monsters can't make *any* offensive moves.
Yusei: Now, since Cosmic Compass was used to synchro-summon, I get to make an additional draw!
(Yusei's draw is Wave Rebound.)
Yusei (think): All right! (aloud) Next I throw down a facedown! Then-- end my turn. And now that I have, I *activate* a facedown. The trap "Stay Force"! Now by paying a thousand lifepoints during the end phase of my turn, I can negate my dragon's ability that makes him leave the field!
(Yusei's lifepoints now read 3000.)
Yusei: It's *your* draw now!
Dragen: I smell a rat. Yusei's planning something.
Broder: You worry too much, Dragen; our Nordic Gods're gonna end this *here and now*. And there's not a *thing* Yusei can do about it!
Halldor: It's *my turn*!
(Draw. Scoreboard. Yusei, 3000, 6; Halldor, 4000, 5.)
Halldor: *Dear* Yusei-- I applaud your effort to keep fighting, but, as you can see... Odin outmatches your Dragon by two hundred points! And even if he didn't, you'd better believe that I've taken precautions to secure my victory regardless! Precautions such as *this* one. I activate a trap card, "Odin's Eye"! And I'm afraid, Yusei, that your Majestic Star Dragon's special ability *isn't* able to negate the effect of *this* card!
Yusei: It's not?!
Halldor: That's right! When a god is on the field, *nothing* can negate the gaze of Odin's Eye! And that being the case, this trap activates! Now, by negating the abilities of a God Card, I am allowed to look at your hand, or a facedown on your field! And I think I'll choose to look at-- *your facedown*, Yusei!
(The other two cards active on Yusei's field are Stay Force and Monster Chain. The third card is hidden-- but not for long. Halldor's rune eye glows...)
Halldor: I see! How interesting. Your facedown card-- is Wave Rebound! That means that on this very turn, if a synchro was summoned from the graveyards, you could negate that summoning-- and then you could deal damage equal to what that synchro's attack points were. Ahh, now I think I know what you and your little dragon were planning to pull on me, Yusei! Why, my Rune Eye lets me see the future!
(Vision.)
Halldor (VO): I would use Odin and you would follow with--
Vision Yusei: That's just what I was hoping for! I now play Majestic Star Dragon's ability; it activates when you use the ability of a spell, trap, or monster!
(Majestic Star Dragon fans its wings, and soars in.)
Vision Yusei: Now by releasing Majestic Star Dragon, Odin's effect is stopped and all the cards on *your* field are destroyed!
(As it soars, Majestic Star Dragon duplicates into three, each soaring straight for one of the Nordic Gods. Each collides and shatters its god on impact; first Thor, Loki, then Odin himself.)
Vision Yusei: Next I activate the trap, "Wave Rebound"! Which means at the end of this turn, *you* can't bring back your Nordic Gods, and *you* take damage equal to their attack points!
(Wave Rebound's bolt of power hits Halldor squarely-- and that is the end of it. End Flashback.)
Halldor: A very *cunning* scheme you have planned. And I do believe if you manage to execute your scheme at this present moment, you'll *win the duel*. However-- I think you know quite well I won't be letting *that* happen. Not a chance! Not since I've *seen it coming*!
Yusei: Hggghhh... (think) Looks like it's back to the drawing board.
Dragen: It's quite remarkable, really.
(Broder looks up from the monitor.)
Dragen: As impossible as it is for Yusei to win this, he still endures.
Halldor: Ahh, Yusei, this is how it should be. Perhaps it's not as exciting for the crowd, but I assure you, it's exciting for *me*! After all, the very best part of a chess match such as this, is the moment the players just sit and strategize! And given the present state of this duel of ours, well-- that's what we must do now. I place one card facedown and end my turn! It's your draw!
(Monster Chain counts down to 1.)
Announcer: Well! You heard it from *Halldor himself*-- seems these two duelists can't do a thing until that "Monster Chain" trap snaps! Then, and only then, will a winner emerge!
Crow: If only Yusei had been able to get off his trap!
Jack: But he *didn't* get it off, Crow, and that's *that*.
(Yusei rides onward, the sky behind him filled with ring-encircled gods.)
Jack (VO): It's like he said, you can't change the past, but you *can control* what happens next. 'Course by *that* logic, *Halldor* can, too.
Bruno: The good news is that due to Yusei's "Stay Force" trap, Majestic Star Dragon can stay out for three more turns.
(Yusei has 3000 lifepoints left, that can be spent to keep Stay Force active.)
Akiza: But ya have to remember, Bruno, Monster Chain's effect will end on Yusei's next turn. And when it does... there're gonna be some *serious fireworks.*
Jack: You can *say that* again, Akiza, because that'll be the moment when all of this is settled! Will Yusei win-- or lose?
ACT 4 <<18:29>>
Crow: It all comes down to this!
(Yusei prepares to draw.)
Yusei: It's my turn!
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 3000, 7; Halldor, 4000, 7.)
Yusei: First I use the effect of Speed World Two. Now by removing seven of my speed counters...
(His speed counter decreases to 0.)
Yusei: I can draw an extra card! Next, to sustain the effect of the trap "Stay Force", I'll pay a thousand lifepoints. Now Majestic Star Dragon no longer has to leave the field. With that, I end my turn.
Halldor: It's my draw...
(Scoreboard. Yusei, 2000, 1; Halldor, 4000, 8.)
Halldor: Now then. Time to end this once and for all! That's right, Yusei-- I know the prevailing wisdom has us all waiting for "Monster Chain" to expire, but it's like I said--
Yusei: Huh?
Halldor: The best part of a duel, is when the players take time to strategize. Well I *have* strategized, Yusei; and now I'm ready to *implement* that strategy! So here it comes. Odin, Father of the Aesir! I activate your special ability! Go, Command of Rune!
Yusei: What?!
Jack: He's *using* Odin's power after all?!
Crow: But why, Yusei's all set up to exploit it!
Halldor: Now, the Monster Chain trap that is affecting Odin is negated!
Yusei: Then I play my Majestic Star Dragon's effect! As you well know, Halldor, when you activate Odin's ability, I can *release* Majestic Star Dragon and *negate* that ability! Then all the cards on *your* field are destroyed! *That* is the power-- of Stardust Force!
(Majestic Star Dragon soars in a wide arc, and splits apart into four of itself. The dragons crash straight into the gods with smoke-filled explosions. Majestic Star Dragon soars close to the track and crosses Halldor to fly away behind, close enough to brush him with its wing-- and his facedown shatters in its wake. In the light of the destroyed cards, Halldor's satisfied grin is harshly uplit; he wanted that card destroyed, and what happens next is going to be bad news for Yusei.)
Halldor: Heheheheh...
(The four Majestic Dragons are skimming the water to either side of the track; they recombine into one dragon, then the one dragon melts away into sparkles. Yusei watches silently.)
Halldor: I'll now place a card facedown and end my turn. Which means we're at the *end phase*.
(Halldor takes the three Nordic Gods from his graveyard and fans them, ready to re-summon them to the field.)
Halldor: And my Nordic Gods return.
(He lays them out on the field; Thor, Odin, and Loki.)
Halldor: So rise! Thor! Loki! And of course, mighty Odin!
(The thunder is crashing; the lightning is striking the surface of the ocean as it slowly parts for Thor, who rises from the depths soaking wet. A glowing gash opens in the clouded sky, and Loki slips through, ready for more mischief. Odin descends from the glowing heavens as though standing on a solid platform of thin air.)
Yusei: You asked for it, Halldor, I play my trap! "Wave Rebound"!
(Around the card, a whirlwind suddenly appears, all but obscuring the duel from view. The whirlwind is spreading, gathering around the reviving gods.)
Announcer: *Simply incredible*!! Due to "Wave Rebound", all of Team Ragnarok's Nordic Gods will be waving their last goodbye! And now, Halldor will take damage equal to the attack points of all *three* of those clobbering conquerors!
Halldor: Tell me, Yusei, are you happy with your plan? Because *I* am happy with it! In fact, I couldn't be happier, and do you know why?
Yusei: Huh! I think you're about to *show me*.
Halldor: I activate a trap from my graveyard.
Yusei: A trap from your graveyard?!
Halldor: That's correct. "Gjallarhorn"! This trap unleashes its effect, *only when six feet under*!
(The glowing card rises from the track, spinning upward into the windstorm.)
Halldor: And it's *quite* the effect.
(Above the three reassembled gods stands a glowing figure in midair, blowing a long, doleful note on a mighty horn.)
Halldor: Do you hear that, Yusei? That is the sound of your complete and utter destruction! That's the sound of victory, and it is *getting louder*. Yusei-- prepare to feel the full wrath of the Nordic Gods!!
