(Opening)
ACT 1 <2:48>
(At Public Security Bureau Headquarters...)
(In his office, Lezar is playing on a handheld game machine. His little character jumps over an obstacle with a backflip, then another.)
Lezar: Come onn... *get there*...! Ooh, yeah... that's it...!
(The door slides open and Jack strides in unannounced. Lezar jumps, hides the game, and switches to paperwork.)
Lezar: (gasp) Eeep! Don't you knock?! I'm very busy here!! <3:00>
Jack: I want you to tell me *right now*, Lezar, is it true what he said?!
(Lezar stops scribbling.)
Lezar: He who?
Jack: Dragen, from Team Ragnarok! He said you *paid him* to throw the match back when we dueled! He said the whole thing was *set up*.
(To Lezar, this is stating the obvious.)
Lezar: Well, of *course* it was.
(Then Lezar sees the look on Jack's face and hurriedly scribbles some more paperwork.)
Lezar: Euh, I mean, of course it was a *lie*, what he said.
(Jack leans forcefully on the desk, and Lezar cowers.)
Jack: Quit playing games, runt!!
(Lezar's 'paperwork' is just increasingly shaky scribbles on blank paper.)
Lezar: Ahh..
Jack: You *did* pay 'im, didn't you?! Tell me why!
(Lezar is starting to sweat.)
Lezar: Why? Oh, I wish I could help you out, Jack, but, you see, it was such a long time ago and at my age...
Jack: I see. So you *don't remember*.
(Jack reaches over and grabs Lezar by the front of his coat, pulling him up nose-to-nose.)
Jack: Well, maybe I can jog your memory!
Lezar: Ah, no need for that; somehow it all just came back to me! Here's the thing, Jack, back when you faced Dragen you were a big turbo-dueling star. And Director Goodwin wanted to keep it that way; after all, a big name draws a big crowd, and a big crowd draws *big cash.*
Jack: Huh!
(Flashback.)
FB Dragen: See, Jack, you defeated me because you were a product that made Goodwin money, and he wanted to *keep* making it.
(End Flashback.)
Lezar: Ah, don't take it *personally*, Jack; it's showbiz! I mean you were *still a very good duelist*, <4:00> just maybe not... ooh...
(To Lezar's bewilderment, Jack sets him down far more gently than he picked him up.)
Lezar: ...Quite as good as you thought you were.
(He watches Jack quietly walk out, then the door slides shut behind him. Lezar flops back down into his chair with a sigh of relief.)
Lezar (halfheartedly): That's right-- and stay out!
(Back at the garage, in the late afternoon...)
Akiza: I can't believe it's true. I can't believe Goodwin paid Dragen to throw the match.
Crow: Yeah, well, when it comes to that snake *Goodwin*, I can believe pretty much *anything*. I just worry about *Jack*-- this can't be too easy for 'im.
(The twins are sitting on the couch, and Yusei's leaning against the wall near them.)
Leo: No joke, you guys, so maybe we should all just *drop* it! Whaddaya say, Yusei?
Yusei: Yeah.
(Sounds like Yusei agrees with everything except the 'maybe'.)
Bruno: Hey--
(Bruno runs up the stairs and shows them a small box.)
Bruno: You *gotta* check this out.
(The little box has a picture of Jack, Archfiend, and his runner on the front, and is about the size of a card.)
Luna: Wait-- is that--
Bruno: Yep, it's Jack's movie! You know, about his rise to the top? I heard Jack dueled Dragen back in the day and I thought we could watch to prep up!
(Akiza and Luna sigh.)
Bruno (to Yusei): Uh- what's wrong?
Yusei: It's, a long story.
(Bruno slides open the disc case.)
Bruno: Save it-- for after the movie! Heh!
(He hands Yusei the video case and goes to put the disc in the player. Yusei pensively looks again at the illustration on the front of the case.)
Yusei: Hmmmph...
(Night has fallen, lit up by the bright city lights in the middle of New Domino City, beneath a crescent moon. On a stone bridge somewhere, Jack slouches over the railing, watching the flashy signs above reflect on the water below.) <5:00>
Jack (think): I can't believe Dragen was telling the *truth*.
(Flashback.)
FB Dragen: Losing on purpose was against every instinct I had as a duelist. I had to accept my instructions and throw the match!
(End Flashback.)
(Jack stares into space, remembering more of Dragen's harsh words.)
(Flashback.)
FB Dragen: Your moves were *pathetic*, I saw a myriad of ways to take you down!
(End Flashback.)
(Jack pounds a fist on the rail.)
Jack: I was *never* a dueling champ!
(He walks away from the rail, shoulders hunched.)
Jack: I was a *chump*... and I always will be.
ACT 2 <5:27>
(On the TV screen, we see a dueling field diagram with two cards facedown and Top Runner on the field.)
Bruno: Sh! Jack's movie's playing!
(Akiza and the twins watch closely from the couch, Crow and Bruno from chairs, and Yusei stands behind them, arms folded.)
Movie Jack: Ha! I see you've been *paralyzed* with fear! Well don't be ashamed; that's often the case when a *weak duelist* like yourself faces me!
Movie Dragen: I summon Garmr of the Nordic Beasts!
[Garmr of the Nordic Beasts 800//L4/]
(Pronounced 'garm' with the R silent. Akiza is watching the movie closely.)
Movie Jack: My turn now-- first, I summon forth Power Breaker from my hand!
[Power Breaker 1900//L4/]
Movie Jack: Next, my level-four Top Runner will tune with that level-four Power Breaker! Behold, <6:00> in an inferno of power and might, a blazing new beast is now forged!
(L4 + L4 = L8.)
Movie Jack: I synchro-summon, Red Dragon Archfiend!
[Red Dragon Archfiend 3000//L8/]
(Archfiend appears in a swirl of fire and embers. Crow frowns.)
Movie Jack: Take heart, my little amateur dueling friend-- Red Dragon Archfiend and I are about to put you out of your misery! Archfiend, attack!
(Red Dragon Archfiend reaches for Dragen and his runner with one flaming claw, and Dragen is hit hard with a blazing inferno.)
Luna: Twenty-two-hundred points of damage in *one* attack?
Movie Announcer: All Jack has to do now is connect with a direct attack next turn, and he'll *win this duel*!
(Bruno clicks off the TV.)
Akiza: Did you see that? After Garmr of the Nordic Beasts was destroyed, Dragen didn't try *any kind of counterattack*.
Crow: Right, yet I remember 'im saying that he could've *easily* beaten Jack, had he not agreed to *lose*.
Yusei: And if ya notice, Dragen had a facedown card out. A facedown card that he never used.
(Flashback. The duel field diagram in the movie of Dragen's field shows Garmr of the Nordic Beasts and one card facedown, and they saw it appear on the field. End Flashback.)
Akiza: Right. The card he could've won with. <7:00> Huh?
(Jack is climbing the stairs.)
Bruno and Crow: Huh?
Crow (nervously): Hey, Jack.
(Jack looks from them to the shamefaced twins, aware that something's going on that he's not supposed to know about. Crow scratches the back of his head somberly, and Yusei frowns at the floor.)
Jack: What's that down there?
(Bruno jumps; Jack just spotted the disc case sitting on the floor! He dashes to pick it up and hide it.)
Bruno: Uh! That? Oh it's nothing, nothing at all, see, it's gone! I have no idea what you're talking about!
(Jack scowls; he recognized the cover. No one speaks... then Leo finally cracks and breaks the silence.)
Leo: Uh. Look, Jack, it's *nothing to worry about*. Who *cares* that some guy let you win. I mean, I'm sure that kinda thing happens all the *time*!
Jack: Rrrgh!
Leo: Huh?
Jack: What're you saying, that my entire duel record is built on lies?! That all the skills I thought I had are really just make-believe?! That I'm a giant *fraud*, a big fat *phony full of baloney*?!!
Yusei: Whoa, Jack--
Jack: That's it, I'm out of here!
(Jack stomps down the stairs again.)
Leo: I didn't mean that it happens to *him* all the time!
Luna (overly cheerful): Wasn't it cute how he rhymed 'baloney' with 'phony'?
(Yusei worriedly looks toward the stairs.) <7:00>
(Outside, the yellowish crescent moon has risen. Jack is sitting in the armchair on the stair landing in the dark, eyes closed, when Yusei climbs the steps from the garage to join him. The scene is lit only by the pale blue light from the exterior windows next to them.)
Jack: Hey, Yusei. Sorry about blowing my top; this has just been really hard on me. Apologize to Leo for me, would you?
Yusei: Of course, Jack. He *knows* what you're going through.
Jack: Does he? I'm not quite sure *I* do. See Yusei, as much as I want to be *mad* at Dragen there's a part of me that can't help feeling sorry for him and all the awful things he had to go through.
Yusei: Listen; you can't keep *torturing* yourself with this. There's nothing good that can come of it, Jack.
Jack: Maybe; but maybe not.
(He pounds his fist on the arm of the chair.)
Jack: That's the thing-- I don't know *what* to think! Am I as good a duelist as I thought I was all these years?! Should I be *angry* at Dragen or just let it *go*?
Yusei: There's just one solution to your problem, Jack.
(Jack looks up at him.)
Yusei: At tomorrow's turbo-duel... face Dragen with all of the strength that you have. *Let a duel sort this out*.
(Jack scowls a second longer, nods, and stands; he steps past Yusei, heading further up the stairs.)
Jack: So be it, Yusei. <9:00> One way or another, tomorrow will put this *all to rest*.
(Yusei turns and watches Jack go, smiling slightly.)
(The next morning is as bright and sunny as ever, and the WRGP logo hangs holographically in the air above the site of the match. The dueling tracks of the final round course are a dizzying spiral.)
Announcer: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the World Racing Grand Prix, where the stakes have *never* been so high!!
(The stands are packed with cheering fans of all ages, right up to the rafters.)
Announcer: After all, this is the *last* round of the tournament before the *final* round!
(Up on the multiple Spheres above the track is projected an image of Team New World, all three Emperors in turbo-dueling gear.)
Announcer: And there, Team New World is waiting-- but they won't be waiting for long!
(Beside the track, Team 5D's stands ready and waiting; Bruno, the twins, and Akiza are all in pit crew blazers, and Crow, Yusei, and Jack are in their riding gear. Jack especially is ready to get things started.)
Announcer: Team Five-D's is *revved up* and ready to go full-throttle against their adversary of the day-- Team Ragnarok!
(Ragnarok's pit crew is in shades of green, orange, and white. Dragen, Broder, and Halldor also await the match; Dragen with determination, Broder with some hint of amusement, and Halldor with a slight scowl.)
Announcer *Can they keep their cool* with their polarizing proficiencies, and snowball their way to a victory?!
Lezar: Ohh, sweet winds of destiny, I beg you--
(Lezar is sitting on a couch in a cushy observation booth above the stadium. A pair of suited men stand at the windows to either side of him, looking like some kind of bodyguards.)
Lezar: Please, oh please, let Jack win this battle, because if he doesn't there's a very good chance... that he's going to battle *me*! And I look *so much better* in one piece.
(One of the suits glances back at him. Lezar clears his throat, and rises from the couch to walk to the window.)
Lezar: Hm. What I *meant* to say, was, (points) you deserve to win, Jack-- <10:00> to right a terrible wrong you were dealt! ...Yeah... that's it...
(Jack and Dragen are glaring resolutely at each other across the track.)
Broder: The time has finally come, Dragen.
(Dragen turns to his teammates, surprised out of his glaring.)
Broder: ...For redemption!
Dragen: Broder... Halldor... thanks. If it wasn't for you two, I don't think I would've *ever* recovered after I threw that match with Jack. But you both helped me carry on; with my dueling, with my *life*.
(His two friends smile in reply; even Halldor.)
Dragen: So whatever happens today, I'm just thankful to be a part of Team Ragnarok.
(Broder puts a hand on his shoulder.)
Broder: I'll tell you what's going to happen, Dragen; you're gonna show Jack *and all the world* what should've happened all those years back.
Halldor: And as a result of that, we'll win our way to the final match.
(Dragen nods.)
(The crowd is cheering as Jack and Dragen take the starting line, Dragen on a navy and gold runner with red horns, decorated in the style of viking armor.)
Announcer: And our first two duelists have made their way to the starting line! Drage-e-e-e-en and Jack!
(Both look straight ahead, resolved.)
(The Waitress, Carly, and Mina are up in the stands.)
Waitress and Carly: Go, Jack!
Mina: We're rooting for ya!
Leo (to Yusei): Are you sure he's gonna be *okay* out there?
Yusei: Yeah. <11:00>
(Speed World 2 activates on both screens.)
Computer: Duel mode engaged.
(The holographic field that spreads from the two runners makes the sky appear a bit darker blue. Dragen slots his deck and it shuffles automatically.)
Dragen: All right, Jack-- it's time that we settle this once and for all!
(Jack does likewise.)
Jack: You know what, Dragen? I don't think I coulda said it *any better myself*!
(The countdown clock begins to count down.)
(Broder and Halldor are watching from their pit booth, both smiling slightly.)
Jack (think): Time to see how good I really am!
(Behind the rest of the team in 5Ds' pit booth, Yusei is watching closely.)
Yusei (think): Here we go.
(The clock turns green, and the two duelists leave the mark, Jack a full length ahead of Dragen.)
Announcer: Team Five-D's takes the lead!
(Jack and Dragen race out onto the open freeway, Dragen still well behind.)
Broder: Whoa, Jack isn't wastin' any time!
Dragen: That's a pretty good top speed you've got for your runner there-- but mine's even *faster*!
Jack: Way to go, Dragen, it seems you're gaining on me. Just one thing, though-- that *wasn't* my top speed!
(They enter the first curve and Jack easily leaves Dragen behind, cutting across his path toward the inside of the curve. They coast through the duel gate and onto the dueling track.)
Jack: *This* is!
Announcer: Jack has rounded the corner first!
Crow: Yeah! It's Jack's move! <12:00>
Jack and Dragen: Go time!
(They draw their opening hands in unison. Jack's is Trap Eater, Barrier Resonator, Power Breaker, Reaction Summon, and Burning Rebirth. Dragen's is Garmr of the Nordic Beasts, Nordic Relic Mjollnir, Solemn Authority, Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts, and Tanngnostr of the Nordic Beasts. Jack stares at his hand in shock.)
Jack (aside): Impossible...! The cards I drew...!
Dragen (aside): They're the same as when Jack an' I dueled *before*...!
Jack (aside): It's as if... *Fate* has stepped in...!
ACT 3 <12:13>
(Jack and Dragen fly down the track, out over the ocean. Each one is staring at his opening hand.)
Dragen (think): I don't understand. How can this *be*? The cards I drew... they're the same as what I drew in my *first* match with Jack.
Jack (think): It can only mean one thing. Not only do Dragen and I want this settled-- but a force *bigger than us* wants it settled as well! (aloud) My draw!
(Jack draws-- Top Runner.)
Jack (think): It's the same *again*!
(Flashback. Jack has Top Runner on the field and two cards facedown; Dragen has Garmr of the Nordic Beasts on the field and sets a facedown of his own.)
Jack (think,VO): Then there's no doubt-- we're being thrust into the same duel situation we were the last time, to see what should've *really* happened.
(Red Dragon Archfiend's fiery claw comes down on Dragen-- and his facedown remains unactivated.)
Jack (think, VO): So let's get to it.
(End Flashback.)
Jack: I summon Top Runner!
[Top Runner 1100/800/L4/wind]
Computer: When Top Runner's special ability is activated, you can increase the attack points of all your synchro monsters by six hundred. <13:00>
Dragen: Top Runner...? So it's *not* just me!
Jack: I then end my turn with two facedowns. It's your move now, Dragen-- everything's the same as before! So let's see if you *really* have what it takes to win; *or* if you're just *all talk*, simply a *sore loser*.
Dragen (think): I *am* a sore loser-- because I never should've lost in the first place!
(Flashback. Red Dragon Archfiend reaches for Dragen and his runner with a flaming claw, and Jack gleefully directs it on. End Flashback.)
Dragen: Now to set things right, it's my draw!
(Scoreboard. Jack, 4000, 1; Dragen, 4000, 1. Dragen draws, smiles ruefully, and places the card in his hand.)
Dragen: Hmph. I summon Garmr of the Nordic Beasts!
[Garmr of the Nordic Beasts 800/1900/L4/dark]
(Broder is watching, openmouthed.)
Halldor: This first face-off; it's the same as before!
Crow: Whoa, I guess history really *does* repeat itself!
Dragen: Next I'll throw a facedown.
(Dragen looks down at the card that he says would have won him the previous duel, and slots it into place.)
Dragen: Your turn, Jack!
Jack (think): Indeed it is. (aloud) And *this turn*...
(Scoreboard. Jack, 4000, 2; Dragen, 4000, 2.)
Jack: Will be a *powerful* one. I summon, Power Breaker!
[Power Breaker 1900//L4/] <14:00>
Jack: Now, level-four Top Runner, tune your strength with level-four Power Breaker! Behold-- in an inferno of power and might, a blazing new beast is now forged!
(L4 + L4 = L8. Red Dragon Archfiend appears in a whirlwind of fire and brimstone.)
Jack: Behold the Red Dragon Archfiend!
[Red Dragon Archfiend 3000//L8/]
Announcer: I can't *believe* it! Jack Atlas has unleashed his ultimate monster in a *mere two turns*!
(Archfiend's face is up on the Sphere; Yusei and Halldor look up at it from opposing pit booths on the ground, Halldor anxious, Yusei slightly awed.)
Yusei: The question is...
Halldor: Can he finish Dragen off like he did last time, or will Dragen fend *him* off?
Broder: Guess we'll find out.
Crow: I sure hope Jack knows what he's doing here.
Halldor: At last, it's time for some payback!
Jack: All right, Dragen-- this is what you *wanted*, right? We're back to the exact point we were right before ya threw our match!
(And Dragen's mystery facedown is in place. Dragen stares down at it.)
(Flashback. Dragen clenches his teeth at the sound of Lezar's voice over a microphone to his helmet radio.)
FB Lezar: If you don't lose the match, you don't get the money-- and you *don't* help your father!
(End Flashback.)
(Dragen grimaces at the painful memory.)
Jack: And now, Dragen, I'm going to do the *exact same thing*-- Red Dragon, attack Garmr of the Nordic Beasts! <15:00> Go, Absolute Powerforce!
Dragen: I play my facedown! The trap "Nordic Relic Brisingamen"!
(Pronounced brih-zing-ar-MEN. The card depicts an ornate gold and silver necklace with a pendant made of emerald and ruby.)
Leo: Whoa!
Crow: Wonder what it does?
(The necklace materializes around Garmr's neck.)
Jack: A piece of jewelry? *That's* what you've been waiting to play, for all of these years?
Dragen: Ohh, no, Jack, it's not just *some* piece of jewelry. It's one with a very special ability; an ability that changes the attack points of one of *my* monsters to match that of one of *yours*! And the monster I'm choosing to match is your Red Dragon Archfiend!
(Flames sprout from Garmr's back and form into an all-fire clone of Red Dragon Archfiend, with 3000 attack points to match.)
Leo: Oh no, so now *Dragen's* monster is as strong as Jack's!
(Archfiend faces off against its fiery double.)
Dragen: But there's more. Since Garmr's been powered up by this effect, if he destroys one of your monsters, you take damage equal to that monster's attack points!
Jack: I *what*?
Bruno: But that means--! If Dragen destroys Red Dragon Archfiend, Jack is gonna take *three* thousand points of damage!
Crow: I guess that Dragen *wasn't* just a sore loser...
Jack: Well played, Dragen; I'm impressed. But your little strategy won't mean a *thing* if you can't follow through on your next turn. And I don't plan to *let* you! <16:00> I play a trap, "Reaction Summon", so now, because your monster's attack points changed, I'm allowed to summon a level-four or below monster from my graveyard. And the monster I summon is Top Runner! And now I activate its special ability, which gives my Red Dragon Archfiend a power boost!
(Archfiend's new total is 3600.)
Broder: Whoa, thirty-six-hundred attack points?!
Crow: Yeah! Now *Jack's* got the stronger monster!
Jack: *Go*, Red Dragon Archfiend! Attack with Absolute Powerforce!
(Archfiend destroys Garmr of the Nordic Beasts, and brings Dragen down to 3400 lifepoints.)
Leo: All right! *That'll* teach 'im to take on Dragon Archfiend!
Jack: Now, Dragen, perhaps you see-- our first match, would've ended *precisely* as *this one* did! Hehehehahahah--
Dragen: Oh, but *Jack*... heheheh, the match hasn't *ended*, *yet*. I always knew full *well* that Garmr would be destroyed. <17:00> It was the key to the next phase of my plan.
Jack: *Plan*?
Dragen: That's right; ya see, Jack, since Garmr has perished, I'm now allowed to summon this monster directly from my hand to the field. Now rise, Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts in defense mode!
[Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts 800/1100/L3/earth]
(Dragen pronounces the name tahnk-NIUH-stier. It's a big, somewhat nasty-looking grey goat.)
Dragen: At last, Jack, the *real* battle begins!
(Everyone's eyes are riveted on the Spheres on which they can watch the match.)
Crow: All this time I thought that trap was Dragen's whole plan!
Halldor: He never even saw it coming.
Broder: Not surprised; Jack's part of Team Five-D's and they aren't the brightest of bulbs.
Halldor (mutters): Indeed. If they were, they'd be *running for cover* right now.
Jack: Top Runner! Attack Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts with all your might!
(Top Runner attacks, and bounces off; both Top Runner's attack points and Tanngnjostr's defense points are 1100.)
Luna: Huh? Why would Jack attack when he knew he couldn't win?
Yusei: So that he could protect Top Runner.
Crow: Remember, Luna, Dragon Archfiend's ability destroys any monster on Jack's field that <18:00> *hasn't attacked by the turn's end phase*.
Luna: Ohh; oh yeah!
Jack: I now place one card facedown and end my turn.
Dragen: My draw!
(Scoreboard. Jack, 4000, 3; Dragen, 3400, 3.)
Dragen: First I switch Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts from defense mode to attack mode!
(Dragen's large grey goat switches to attack mode, with 800 attack points.)
Dragen: And with this switch to offense comes an offensive reinforcement! I can now summon another Nordic Beast from my deck to the field. I'm choosing, *this* ferocious brute! Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts!
[Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts 1200//L3/]
(Pronounced here tahnkt-GRISS-neer. A slightly smaller, lighter grey goat.)
Dragen: And next, since you have a synchro monster on your field, I'm allowed to summon *this* card from my hand; the tuner monster, Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts!
[Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts 1600/1000/L4/light]
(Pronounced here gool'-FAHX-ee. A big, charcoal-grey horse with a bright golden mane.)
Akiza: Not a tuner monster!
Crow: Oh, no.
Yusei: He's setting the stage to summon Thor, Lord of the Aesir!
Bruno: Of course...! *That's* why the React Summon (sic) trap Dragen used was so important! <19:00> It set off a chain of events that made the conditions perfect for his *ultimate beast*!
Dragen (on Sphere): Now, without further ado--
Dragen: Level-four Guldfaxe, tune with level-three Tanngrisnir and level-three Tanngnjostr!
(The two goats leap into the air; the horse turns into a ball of light and goes sparking upward, reappearing as a set of green rings. The two goats soar through the rings, Tanngnjostr grinding its teeth the whole way. L3 + L3 + L4 = L10.)
Dragen: Behold, as the Nordic glaciers of old give way, and from the deepest chasms of ice, an ancient and powerful hero emerges! A hero who wields the quaking power of a pounding avalanche!
(Dragen's eyes lights up with its green rune, as he looks above toward the summon of his mightiest monster.)
Dragen: Behold-- the ultimate-- the supreme-- Thor, Lord of the Aesir!
(Above, the clear sky has gone purple with moody clouds that crackle lightning. From the heavens in a beam of green light appears Dragen's monster, caped in fur-lined blue over his gold-trimmed leather battle armor, with feet like thick tree trunks and hands as bulky as his powerful shoulders. His head is almost comically tiny compared to the bulk and strength of his body. He wields his massive hammer, with a shiny metal head and a gnarled haft of black wood.)
[Thor, Lord of the Aesir 3500//L10/]
ACT 4 <19:48>
(Thor, Lord of the Aesir, looms in the sky, the Northern Lights at his back.)
(The Anouncer is standing on his desk, raving.)
Announcer: There he is, Dragen's ultimate monster!!! The mighty Thor, Lord of the Aesir! I'm so excited I can barely stand it!!
(Then he almost falls off.)
Announcer: Whoa-a-a! Or *stand up*!! <20:00>
(The crowd is amazed; many have tears in their eyes at the sight. Carly and the Waitress are not as thrilled.)
Carly: What's the scoop on *this* monster?!
Waitress: Besides being monstrous I don't know!
Mina: I've *heard* of this card before... but I never thought that it *really existed*...!
Yusei: This card... it changes *everything*.
Jack: So one of the three Nordic Gods has finally appeared! However, your *ace monster* has just thirty-five-hundred attack points. And as you recall, due to Top Runner's ability, my Red Dragon Archfiend has thirty-*six*-hundred. These numbers add up to just *one thing*, my monster's still *king of the hill*!
Dragen: Well, he's about to be *knocked off it*! I activate Thor's special ability! With it, once per turn, I can negate the special ability of one of *your* monsters and then *use* that special ability for *myself*-- or I should say, for Thor, Lord of the Aesir.
Jack: What?!
Dragen: And, the ability I choose to negate and take is Top Runner's, meaning that now Thor, Lord of the Aesir's attack points are boosted by six-hundred!
(Now Thor's attack points are 4100, and Red Dragon Archfiend's are back to their original 3000.) <21:00>
Akiza: Whoa, forty-one-hundred attack points!
Broder: What a cruel twist of fate; Jack kept Top Runner so that he could keep Red Dragon Archfiend strong, but now, Top Runner-- is what will do Archfiend in!
Halldor: Not just Archfiend-- Jack too, and all of Team Five-D's.
Dragen: I've been waiting for this moment, Jack; ever since I let you win our first match all those years ago. And now, the moment is here! Thor, Lord of the Aesir! Attack Red Dragon Archfiend! Go, Polarizing Pound!
(Archfiend roars, and is annihilated in one blow from Thor's hammer. Jack's lifepoints fall to 2900.)
Jack: Uuuuuuuaaaaaagggghhhh...!
(Dragen passes Jack and Top Runner as they fall behind.)
Announcer: Oh, my *word*! Jack's ultimate monster has been mashed! And all it took was a single swipe from that super-powered hammer-swinger!!
(Lezar is pressed up against the glass, then falls over.)
Lezar: And I'm- ne-e-e-xt! <22:00>
(The Team 5D's pit booth watches tensely.)
