TEASER
(The dark ocean water is just beginning to sparkle as the sun rises over the many-bridged ocean of New Domino City. Yusei rides a highway over the sea alone on his runner, silent and pensive.)
(The midmorning sun lights up the facade of Zora's building. Inside, Crow descends a ladder against the wall, yawning, and walks across a plain, tidy kitchen space, still yawning hugely. There's a drafting desk against the wall near the window, a fridge next to the ladder, a stove with a kettle and fan hood next to that, counter space, a sink, and what might be a bread machine. There's a small couch in the opposite corner to the ladder. Nearby is the entrance to a descending stairway that Crow steps onto with a belch.)
(Jack, sitting in the garage in the basement, sips from a teacup. Crow walks down the stairs.)
Crow: Hmm? What looks *different* in here? What's with the table an' chairs?
(Jack's sitting at a table next to the foot of the stair, in one of three chairs. All of said furniture is made of scrap metal. Sitting on the table is a thermos pitcher and cups.)
Crow: (yawn) Is this *new*?
Jack: Indeed! I made *all this* using spare parts.
Crow: So the days of eating on the floor are over?! Whoa! And we're making our own coffee now, too, aww, *sweet*!
Jack: We're high-class *now*!
Crow: This is some smart thinkin'! *This* way we won't waste money hitting up the cafe across the street three times a day!
(Meanwhile, across the street, the redheaded waitress from the cafe is in tears.)
Waitress: (sobs) Where's Ja-a-a-ack...?
Crow (uneasy): Why isn't Yusei here?
Jack: I think he's out testing the new engine prototype.
Crow: He *finished* it? <1:00>
Jack: I guess so; by the time I woke up he was already *gone*, and the old engine is sitting over there.
(Crow looks over at the runner engine left standing in the middle of the floor.)
Crow: So he pulled another all-nighter all by 'imself; that's the *third one this week*! Why's he *pressuring* himself so much lately?
Jack: Why d'you *think*? The World Racing Grand Prix is coming up! He wants to make sure we're going in with the best duel runners we can *make*.
(Crow sighs, turns over a cup, and pours himself some coffee.)
Crow: He should let us help out more. I mean, we're smart guys; we know how to use our hands, and our heads...
(Ironically as Crow speaks, the chair under him is straining under his weight. Clearly it was not very well made.)
Crow: And, how to put stuff together, an'... did you hear that?
(And the table and chairs Jack built collapses out from under them and sends them flying.)
Crow: Aaaaaahh!
(Opening)
ACT 1 <2:33>
(The coffee pot clatters across the ground. The floor is covered with junk metal. Crow and Jack are lying on the floor. Somehow Jack has managed to keep his cup of coffee from spilling.)
Crow: Okay! Okay! Don't move a muscle, Jack. One wrong move and we could be paralyzed for life!
Jack: What're you on about? Don't be such a *baby*.
Crow: I'm *serious*, man. We coulda snapped something. One wrong move, and *bam*, paralysis.
Jack: Well, then, we should just *lie here and wait* for help.
(Jack lifts his head and sips some coffee, legs nonchalantly crossed. The two of them are lying in the middle of a pile of random scrap on the floor.)
Crow: So... while we're waiting here, d'ya think Yusei is hiding something *big* from us? <3:00>
(Jack glances over at him out of the corner of his eye.)
Jack: What're you *talking* about?
Crow: I mean, we're a *team*, right? We all worked together to build the Daedalus Bridge.
(Flashback. Yusei, Jack, and Crow stand in the shadow of the mighty bridge they just completed, the first linking the Satellite to New Domino City.)
Crow (VO): To reconnect the city with Satellite... and when he was fighting Goodwin, we were *right there*. Remember?
(Change Flashback.)
FB Goodwin: No fair! *I* was the chosen one! I had the markings of both the light and the darkness!!
FB Yusei: Perhaps-- and yet beneath them, the Crimson Dragon saw that you still honor your brother's memory! So *now* the Crimson Dragon is a part of *me*!
(The Seal of the Crimson Dragon is glowing in Yusei's back, through his jacket. The other four Signers are all ready to fight.)
FB Luna, Akiza, Jack, Crow: Yusei!
FB Yusei (draw): You did *your* part, Goodwin! And now *I'll* do *mine*!! My turn!
(He glances at his card; it's Majestic Dragon)
(Scoreboard: Yusei 1, 12 ; Goodwin 5900; 9)
FB Yusei: First, since Stardust Dragon is on my field, I'm allowed to summon the Stardust Xiaolong that's sleeping in my graveyard!
[Stardust Xiaolong 100///]
FB Yusei: And then I summon, Majestic Dragon!
[Majestic Dragon 0///]
FB Goodwin: Not that! No!!
FB Yusei: Next, I tune level-one Majestic Dragon with level-*eight* Stardust Dragon, *and* level-one Stardust Xiaolong! <4:00>
(Yusei's in the middle of a synchro-summon. His monsters are all outlines and green rings.)
FB Yusei: I harness all the power of the stars! I channel all the might of the dragons! I synchro-summon-- the Majestic Star Dragon!!
(Majestic Star Dragon is a creature of magnificence, crystalline and radiating shimmering prismatic light. It glides gracefully on its four fanlike wings.)
FB Yusei: Majestic Star Dragon gains twenty-four-hundred attack points!
(Jack and Crow smile tiredly; that was their doing.)
FB Yusei: *And* he gains the distinction of being the toughest monster on the field!
(Majestic Star is now 6200 attack points strong, and shining with even more inner light.)
FB Yusei: You know what that means-- Earthbound Immortal Rasca is goin' down! Go Majestic Star Dragon, Star Shine Shred!!
(Majestic Star attacks, flying so fast it becomes a dart of light slicing through the air; Yusei is about to hit Rasca full blast. Majestic Star Dragon plunges straight through the heart of the Condor Immortal, and soars out its back. Rasca caws and cries as it bleeds first turquoise light, then red-violet shadows.)
FB Goodwin: Aaaaaauuuooh....!!
(Goodwin's lifepoints fall to zero. End Flashback.)
(Crow stares up at the ceiling.)
Crow: We were all there for him. And I just wish *you* were there when he battled *Roman*; 'cause he said all this *heavy stuff* that he'd never said to *any* of us.
(Flashback. The light of the reactor below and the tendrils of power climbing the walls like supernatural lichen harshly uplight Yusei's face, sparkling in his eyes and creating shadows underneath them.)
FB Yusei: I understand that life is a long series of chain reactions. If my father had never discovered those planetary particle things... <5:00> then Zero Reverse never would've happened.
(As Yusei speaks, we see Crow as a young kid, standing alone on the beach staring out at the sea. Then we see Jack as a kid leaning against a tree in a park, wistfully watching a family of four play together on a playground.)
FB Yusei (VO): Satellite would still be part of Domino City. My friends like Crow and Jack wouldn't have had to grow up alone on the streets.
(End vision. Yusei sheds a tear as he continues to speak.)
FB Yusei: But my dad was my dad, he wasn't some cosmic chess piece! And as for my friends and all the bad stuff they've had to go through--
(He thinks of Crow, of Jack, and of Rally, Blitz, Tank, and Nervin as he speaks this last.)
FB Yusei: *Don't tell me that's fate!!* Don't tell me everything happened 'cause it was *meant to*!!
(The light of the reactor lines Trudge's face as he listens somberly; the twins look both worried and moved.)
FB Luna: Yusei...!
FB Yusei: That's a lie! It happened because of you, and choices *you made*!
FB Roman: If only you knew how wrong you are!
(Yusei and Roman silently glare at each other; the tension holds. Crow breaks it.)
FB Crow: Don't listen to that wingnut, Yusei!
FB Yusei: Huh?
FB Crow: I heard what you just said about your dad, man, and you're *right*. Wasn't his fault. There's no *way* he coulda known Roman was gonna do what he did.
FB Yusei: I guess so...
Crow: Look at it this way-- if Zero Reverse had never happened, you n' me n' all the others might not have met up and become best friends! Good things lead to bad things, leading to more good things! And that's just life! <6:00> And at the end a' the day, we all have *choices*. We aren't *destined* to make them; this guy's just using destiny as an excuse to be a *jerk*! Or who knows-- maybe it was my destiny to say that-- but *either way*! *Finish* this guy, wouldja?!
FB Yusei: I'm on it!
(Yusei closes his eyes a moment, then nods. End Flashback.)
Jack: Yusei's an interesting lad. He's always been a tad *standoffish*, Crow, *you* know that.
Crow: Ye-e-eah... I *guess* you're right, but I'm just saying, if there's something going on, and he thinks he's up against something he can't handle, and he's not *telling* us about it... aaaaah, I dunno, Jack, I guess I just don't want our friend thinking that he's gotta go it alone. 'Cause then he might *actually* go it alone.
(Jack glances over at Crow, then up at the fluorescents on the ceiling.)
Jack: Well that's very *sweet*, but there's no reason to *worry* about Yusei. He's an *incredible duelist*.
Crow: Hey, I'm not *denying* that, but if he thinks--
Jack: Of all the lesser-thans I've dueled, he's the best; hands down. He's the only one who ever gave me a real *challenge*.
(Crow sits up and gets in his face.)
Crow: Hey, whaddaya mean, *only real challenge*! What about *this* guy!
(He points to himself.)
Jack: Oh, you're up. Guess that means it's safe for us to move.
Crow: Ya didn't answer the question, Jack, what about *me*! <7:00>
(Jack gets onto his runner and folds down the bar.)
Crow: Hey, wh-wi-whdi- whaddaya doin', where ya goin'?!
(Jack puts on his helmet.)
Jack: I've decided that I think you're right for once. There's some sort of danger approaching, and I think Yusei is onto it. So I'm gonna find out what it is, and make sure he knows he can count on me.
(Jack zooms out the garage door. Crow sprints across the room and jumps onto his own runner.)
Crow, Wait, *what*?! You just said that-- Hey, wait! You're not havin' a special moment without *me*!!
(Crow puts on his helmet and peels out of the garage. The stone sidewalk outside the garage by now shows a whole lot of tire tracks. He races up the ramp.)
Crow: Ja-a-a-ack!
ACT 2 <7:25>
(Yusei zooms around another curve on an empty highway somewhere in Domino.)
Yusei (think): This isn't fast enough! At *this* speed I won't be able to beat the Ghost! I *barely* defeated it *last* time!
(Flashback. In the early dawn, Yusei races ahead of the Ghost and his monster, Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity.)
FB Ghost: You'll soon be going down like all the rest, Yusei! The moment you lose is the moment you crash!!
FB Yusei: So is that what this is all about for you? Bullying random duelists you find on the road?!
FB Ghost: Hah! *Bullying*? Of course not, that's just an added bonus-- dessert for after I achieve what I've *really* set out to accomplish.
FB Yusei: Whadda you *talking about*?
FB Ghost: I'm talking about *useless* little things called synchro monsters! <8:00> And now it's time to rid the world of *yours*! Watch the synchro-slayer at work!
FB Yusei: You're out of your mind!
FB Ghost: Oh, am I? Machine Emperor Infinity (sic), demonstrate!! I activate your special ability!
(Machine Emperor Wisel's chest glows in an infinity symbol; beams shoot out of it and wrap around Stardust's limbs, neck, waist, and torso like glowing ropes, dragging Yusei's monster toward it. Stardust roars and fights against them.)
FB Yusei: Stardust Dragon!!
FB Ghost: It's too late, Yusei, there's nothin' you can do! You *dragon* is about to become just another gear in my machine!
FB Yusei: *No*!!
(Stardust Dragon shrieks one final time, and turns into light, getting sucked into Machine Emperor Wisel's chest.)
FB Jack: Did you see *that*?! His monster has been--
FB Crow: Has been trapped!!
FB Yusei: Stardust Dragon, *no*! Trudge tried to warn me...! This is what he meant! 'Synchros are useless' because the Ghost can *capture* them!
FB Ghost: Oh, they're not useless-- at least not to *me*! Because now that your Stardust Dragon is mine... his attack points are mine, too!
(Machine Emperor Wisel's new attack point total is 5000. Its left arm, its attack arm, is glowing with Stardust's iridescent shimmer, and seems to be taking on vestiges of the shape of the dragon's distinctive head.)
FB Yusei: Oh no! It absorbed all of Stardust Dragon's strength?!
FB Jack: This is *not good*!
FB Ghost: Huh! <9:00> All right, then, Machine Emperor-- attack his lifepoints directly! Tell me how it feels, Yusei-- to have your own monster play a part in your demise!!
(Crow's Sign glows red through his cloth armguard.)
FB Crow: Whoa...!
(Jack's Sign burns bright through his glove and sleeve.)
FB Jack: Why're our marks glowing?!
(The Seal of the Crimson Dragon, all five marks combined, ignites on Yusei's back, glimmering through his jacket.)
FB Yusei: The Mark of the Crimson Dragon...! It's lending me its power for this one last draw!
(The top card of Yusei's deck starts to glow golden. He draws and raises the card high.)
FB Yusei: Now, *watch*!! I summon the Majestic Dragon!
[Majestic Dragon 0//L1/]
FB Yusei: And next I activate "Synchro Material". Thanks to *this* trap, I can now synchro-summon with monsters that are on *your* side of the field! Monsters like the Stardust Dragon!
FB Ghost: What?!
FB Yusei: That's right-- return, Stardust!!
(Stardust Dragon takes the field once again, roaring to the sky.)
FB Jack: He got 'im back!
FB Crow: And *that's* just to *start*!
FB Yusei: Hm! Now, Stardust Dragon-- tune with Unicycular and Majestic Dragon! <10:00>
(As Yusei speaks, his monsters are performing the dance of a synchro-summon.)
FB Yusei: Ghost, you called synchro monsters wretched little things that the world should be rid of; well now it's *their turn to respond*, and they'll respond-- with all their might!!!
[Majestic Star Dragon 3800//L10/]
FB Yusei: I'm afraid your Machine Emperor's greatest strength is also his greatest weakness.
FB Ghost: Ah! No! You're wrong!
FB Yusei: Attack 'im and you'll only destroy one *part*-- but if it's the *right* part, *all the others will go with it*!! Majestic Star Dragon, attack!!!
(Like a blue star flying straight out of the daylight, Majestic Star swoops in, aiming for Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity, the combo's head. It strikes right through, faster than the eye can see, leaving an explosion and cloud of smoke in its wake and soaring back up to glide above. The headless Machine Emperor starts to spark and crackle with unnatural purple electricity, then explodes. End Flashback.)
(Yusei keeps riding, deep in thought.)
Yusei (think): If I hadn't been able to activate Crimson Dragon's powers, I would've been done-for; and next time I might not be so lucky. There's some major danger on the way, so I gotta can the minor-league stuff and step it up!
(Up ahead of him is the tower at which the World Racing Grand Prix gala was held.)
Yusei (think): The whole world could depend on it!
ACT 3 <11:00>
(The inside of the tower atop which the gala pavilion sits is lit with massive, beautiful windows. A stair slopes gently upward to the next level up. Yusei stands at the railing at the bottom of the window, his runner parked beside him, leaning on the rail and staring out at the cityscape.)
Yusei (think): What if I can't do it? What if the fight ahead is out of my reach? What if I'm not ready for this?
Jack: I thought I'd find you here.
Yusei (turns): Huh? Hey, guys. What's goin' on?
(Jack and Crow are climbing off their runners behind him. Behind them, we can see a parked car; this is probably the garage level.)
Crow: Man, this really *is* the best view a' the city.
Jack: Hard to believe how much this city has changed in the last six months, isn't it?
Yusei: You guys need something?
Jack: Can't friends just *check in on their friends*?
(Yusei blinks, surprised, then looks away.)
Yusei: ...Yeah. Sorry, I'm just a little on-edge.
Crow: What, 'cause a' the new engine? (puts a hand on his shoulder) Fess up; 's not just that, is it?
Yusei: No, it's-- I can't stop thinking about that stolen duel-bot thing.
Jack: What *about* it, Yusei?
Yusei: I still can't believe how *powerful* it was!
Crow: I don't get it. That thing was just a *machine*, right? What's the big deal?
(Flashback. Crow touches the Ghost's arm and it falls off, sparking dangerously.)
Yusei (VO): Machine or not, *someone* was controlling it. *Someone* was giving it power.
(The three of them recoil from the crackling arm on the ground; where it attached to the Ghost, circuits and a complex hinge can be seen. Up close, the Ghost is clearly a robot, its lifeless eyes staring and inert. End Flashback.)
Yusei: And I think I might know *who*. <12:00>
Jack: What? Who?
Yusei: Iliaster.
Crow: You're gonna hafta remind me what that means, pal; I've got kind of a short-term memory sometimes.
(Yusei turns and looks out the window again as he speaks.)
Yusei: During my battle with Roman, *he* said that he met some guy from a group called Iliaster at the Nazca Lines.
(Flashback. Seventeen to twenty years ago, at the site of the Nazca Lines in Peru, on a clear, sunny day. Roman Goodwin, dressed for wilderness travel, turns, surprised to find that he isn't alone, and sees a man in a white business suit.)
Yusei (VO): That meeting is what made him betray my father.
(The stranger's face and eyes are in shadow, and he wears a blandly ominous sort of smile. End Flashback.)
Jack: I'd heard Goodwin mention that group every now and then back when I was his *lackey*. But I don't know, Yusei, in *my* opinion it all sounded like a bunch of secret society mumbo-jumbo.
(Yusei turns to him, urgent and insistent.)
Yusei: It's *not* mumbo-jumbo, Jack, this group is *real*! They're out there-- and they used Goodwin and Roman to cause Zero Reverse! But Goodwin and Roman were just their pawns; defeating them didn't defeat Iliaster. In fact, I heard their name mentioned *again* recently...
(Flashback. Yusei is in the middle of a duel with Sherry LeBlanc.)
FB Sherry: Tell me, Yusei Fudo-- *what is it* you are dueling for? Why are you entering ze World Racing Grand Prix with your friends?
FB Yusei: *I* don't know. I mean, why do mountain-climbers climb mountains? It's because they're *there*, isn't that what they say?
FB Sherry: So in *other* words, <13:00> you *'ave* no reason! There is nothing driving you but thrill, ambition, perhaps beaux dames?
FB Yusei: So tell me-- what're *you* driven by?
FB Sherry: If you *must* know, Monsieur Fudo-- I am driven by my hunger for revenge!
FB Yusei: Against who?
FB Sherry: I will tell you.
(Sub-Flashback. The ornate family crest on the gate is embossed in gold or bronze. It swings open revealing the palatial estate behind it.)
FB Sherry (VO): I was born into ze LeBlanc family. My parents were extremely wealthy, my father the head of a card company he inherited from *his* father. My childhood was a happy one. Winters in ze mountains; summers at our estate in the country...
(As she speaks, we enter the house through the front doors, past two bowing, matching doormen, through the spacious hall and through another set of double doors, past two bowing, matching maids, and through another set of double doors to find the LeBlanc family sitting in an elegantly-decorated parlor. Sherry's mother sits primly perched on one side of the couch, knitting. Sherry's father holds his young daughter in his arms; in this flashback, Sherry herself is perhaps no older than seven, and giggling all over.)
FB Sherry (VO): Horseback riding lessons, piano lessons, croquet games and cool afternoons. And my parents, zey were carefree and kind! But things started to change.
(Change sub-flashback. Little Sherry lights up and runs to her father's arms; he picks her up and holds her close, carrying her around to the other side of the desk.)
FB Sherry (VO): My parents tried to shield me from all zat was going on. One afternoon, my father gave me ze most *adorable* little teddy bear.
(He opens a desk drawer and takes the teddy bear out of it; little Sherry loves it. The teddy bear *is* very adorable and fuzzy.)
FB Sherry (VO): And zen, zat night...
(Change sub-flashback. Young Sherry picks up her new teddy bear from her pillow and hurries to the door of her bedroom in her nightgown, hearing the sounds of a struggle.)
FB Sherry (VO): I was torn out of my sleep by noises; screaming, shouting! <14:00> Frightened, I went to my parents' room.
(She backs up right into a tall man in the black suit of a butler. She looks up, momentarily frightened, then sees who it is. She starts crying, but he kneels down and puts a hand over her mouth, and a finger to his lips, urging her to be silent.)
FB Sherry (VO): Our butler, Ellsworth, found me; told me not to be scared. Together, we fled the estate.
(He swoops the tiny girl up in his arms, and runs down the hall as she starts crying again.)
(Change sub-flashback. Later, Ellsworth cautiously pulls aside a thick drapery and peers out a window around the back of a neon sign; they're somewhere far off the beaten path, hopefully under the radar. He looks back inside; little Sherry is sitting on the plain bed in the hotel room, holding her teddy bear close and crying her eyes out.)
FB Sherry (VO): Ellsworth explained the situation to me. A corporation had been trying to purchase my father's business. When my father refused, strange men began coming around, making threats.
(Ellsworth takes the single red flower from the vase on top of the chest of drawers, and offers it to the little girl. She's still crying too hard to notice. He gently takes the teddy bear, and puts the flower under its arm, as though it's holding the flower.)
FB Sherry (VO): And zen, he told me-- we could never again return to ze estate.
(Change sub-flashback. And so they traveled, a tall, burly man holding the hand of a little blonde girl in a pink hoodie carrying a teddy bear. As she speaks, a map traces their journey.)
FB Sherry (VO): And so we journeyed from country to country, city to city, relentlessly pursued by ze monsters who had taken my parents from me! Along ze way, I learned zat ze corporation was just a front!
(End sub-flashback.)
FB Sherry: Ze *real* organization pursuing me is known as-- Iliaster!
FB Yusei: *Iliaster*?!
FB Sherry: From what little I have gathered, they are a secret society with wild ideas about ze universe. Zey operate from ze shadows, and zey will do anything to get rid of those who stand in their way-- (anguished) which is why zey came for my family!
FB Yusei: I'm so sorry, Sherry. <15:00>
FB Sherry: I want you to help me, Yusei Fudo. Iliaster is pulling ze strings behind ze upcoming World Racing Grand Prix!
(End Flashback.)
Crow: So what do these *Iliaster* goons want with this girl's parents? And why've they been chasing 'er across the globe?!
Yusei: She wouldn't tell me, but either way, I'm certain Iliaster is somehow involved with the World Racing Grand Prix; *something* is going to happen there!
Jack: You're basing *all of this* on something some *girl you don't know* said to you?
Yusei: There's more. Remember what Blister was saying to us when we went out to Martha's place a couple of weeks ago?
(Flashback. Blister types on his laptop; the screen shows a crater left by a meteor impact.)
FB Blister: Did you guys see the report about that *meteor* that hit outside the city?
FB Yusei: Yeah.
FB Crow: We didn't *need* a news report, we heard the impact!
FB Blister: I've been picking up some weird chatter about it on the P-S-B channels.
FB Jack: What *sort* of chatter?
FB Blister: *Cryptic* stuff. From what I can gather, it seems like it wasn't a *rock* that fell. I've heard a few references to 'the stone tablet'.
FB Yusei: This was two weeks ago, right? That was the same time that duel-bot Ghost started showing up.
FB Crow: Think there might be a *connection* there?
FB Blister: I don't know, but whatever it is that *fell*-- it seems, <16:00> the Public Security Bureau got hold of it and is keeping it very hush-hush.
(End Flashback.)
Yusei: This is how all that drama with the Dark Signers started-- a whisper here and there. Well I wanna be *ready* this time.
Crow: Okay, but, ready for *what*?
Yusei: For pretty much *anything*.
Jack (smiles): Hmph. So the Grand Prix could be some kind of trap. And the three of us are just gonna *stroll right into it*?
Crow: That's how we roll! We're not scared a' *nothin'*! (taunting) I mean, *you're* not afraid, areya, Jack?
Jack: *Please*! You might as well ask the ocean if it's *thirsty*! (getting carried away) Jack Atlas *knows* no fear! I don't even know what the word *means*!! And if anyone tries to intimidate *me*, they will experience a *world of hurt*!!
Yusei: Great. So we've got the 'enthusiasm' part covered, that's good to know. 'Cause we're gonna need *that*, and a whole lot more. If I'm right about Iliaster, then we're gonna need to learn some *new moves*, my friends! ... Remember the trick that *Visor* guy busted out?
(Flashback. The glare on Visor's visor slides aside to reveal one sharp gray eye.)
FB Visor: You're not ready to *face* the Ghost again.
(Yusei's eyes betray alarm; how does he know?!) <17:00>
FB Visor: You must first find what you're looking for.
FB Yusei: 'Looking for?'
FB Visor: That's right. The Synchro Solution.
(Change Flashback. Visor speeds ahead.)
FB Visor: Now prepare to step outta the shadows and into the *light*! Go, Accel Synchro!!
FB Yusei: Accel Synchro?!
(Visor is still accelerating, and the air around him is starting to tint purple, then electric blue. As he continues to speed up, the blue air starts to turn white with the energy of his passing it, obscuring him from view. A green ring blossoms around the track, as though the riders themselves are flying through the rings of a synchro-summoning. The air around Visor is now a vibrant tuner's green, and more rings are appearing. Yusei watches in stunned amazement. There's a bright, blinding flash.)
(Change Flashback. Crow's runner screen has become a headlight; everyone winces away from it. End Flashback.)
Crow: I didn't see *anything* at that point. There was this blinding white light, and I spent the next *five minutes* stumbling around trying to *see*.
Jack (indignant): You didn't *stumble about*, you were hugging onto *me* and saying' protect me, Jack, protect me!'
Yusei: What Visor did, I'd never *seen* it before.
(Flashback. As Visor continues to speed up, the blue air starts to turn white with the energy of his passing it, obscuring him from view. A green ring blossoms around the track, as though the riders themselves are flying through the rings of a synchro-summoning. The air around Visor is now a vibrant tuner's green, and more rings are appearing. Yusei watches in stunned amazement, then suddenly he and his Unicycular are on the track alone. Ahead of them, all is dark.)
FB Yusei: Where'd he *go*? <18:00>
(Yusei rides onward. Suddenly the air behind him seems to pulse, dispersing blurry waves of intangible power. Yusei is forced toward the side of the track, as the air space directly beside him shines brighter and brighter, and Visor comes roaring out of it. Above him hovers a new monster, armored in bright lime green and orange.)
[Tech Genus Blade Blaster 3300//L10/]
FB Yusei: Where'd *that* monster come from?! And what in the world *is* it?
FB Visor: It's an accel synchro monster, Tech Genus Blade Blaster.
FB Yusei: Wait-- an *accel* synchro monster? What's that? And how were you able to summon it right in the middle of my turn?!
FB Visor: An accel synchro summon uses a synchro-tuner monster *and* a synchro monster, and it's done with lightning-fast speed!
(End Flashback.)
Jack and Crow: Accel Synchro?!?!
Yusei: That's right-- and we need to learn how to pull it off.
ACT 4 <18:44>
(Afternoon at the tower in New Domino with the pavilion atop it at which the WRGP Gala took place.)
Jack: So Yusei, by mastering this *Accel Synchro* method you think we'll be able to counteract that capture ability that nuts-and-bolts used on you?
Crow: How're we supposed to do *that*? What does it even *mean*? How does it work? <19:00> Too- many- questions! Brain- overwhelmed!
Yusei: I don't know, Crow... but there's a world beyond the one we know. Beyond the breaking point, past our limits, where time acts differently, where things aren't like they are here. We've *gotta* find a way to get there.
Crow: So we gotta find a way to bend time and space? Sounds like a plan! Go ahead, Iliaster-- *ask* for a piece a' Crow! I'll serve ya the whole pie, losers!
Jack: A world beyond my limits, you say? Hmph. That's impossible; there is *nothing* beyond my limits!
Yusei: Just one thing... I'm *definitely* gonna need a better engine for my duel runner.
Jack: Don't you mean, '*we'll* need better engines for *our* duel runners'?
