My Theatrical Background |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I have been involved in school plays off and on since kindergarten, but I truly discovered theater in eighth grade, seven to eight years ago. Since then, I have acted in twenty-two productions and worked backstage in over twenty-five. Lately, I have stayed backstage, and I really enjoy providing the basis for a show to run smoothly. When I work in theater, regardless of what my position is, I can be counted on to show professionalism, think ahead, and bring my skill and ingenuity to bear on the effort of having the show go on, be its best, and reach its audience. I am a trained makeup artist. I am of the belief that any illusion is possible with enough ingenuity, and I experiment often with unusual makeup combinations and effects. I also paint faces for parties and events, when I get the opportunity. Fair warning-- I know nothing of hair except how best to keep it out of my face. I have over three years of experience with the application and handling of wireless microphone packs with All About Theatre, in which I have run backstage microphones for over ten shows and counting. I am moderately experienced in stage management, but have yet to stage-manage a full-length production. I have often worked for Cabrillo College's Theater Department on short-term productions that require crew such as music department concerts, academic awards, and guest lecturers. I have moderate experience on house crew, having sold tickets and/or concessions a couple times each. My favorite house crew occupation is the 50/50 raffle, a fundraiser we do at AAT. I have some training in the field of theater design, all gleaned in my TA31 (Theater Design) class at Cabrillo College. I also have small experience in directing, from TA17 (Intro to Directing). I'm no expert, and I like to leave these things to those better at them than I am, but I'm conversant. Also See: |
